The town dropped a bunch of trees on the main road out of my neighborhood, about an 1/4 mile from home! Allot of black Locus. I had about an hour to play so I loaded up the saw and went. There is a little catalpa in there too because I had to cut it to get to the gold. I will be going back.
BL mania baby! Alive and well in CT! Nice Goldilocks size too. Better go back soon Thom. I have the FHC BL locator app on my phone! Either that or I can borrow the corporate helicopter and swoop down to get it. Wanna see a heaping load in your truck tomorrow! Wood like that laying along the road is enough to cause an accident (both kinds) for this hoarder.
Hit it hard, hit it fast and hit it often. You snooze you lose is always in play. You can’t burn it if you don’t earn it.
My mind has been known to wander in a conversation. Maybe I saw all that locust and got a little too excited.
when I left for work this morning there was a town truck on the road with the locust, and it had a chipper. I have to admit I got a little uneasy. On my way home I was a little anxious to see the status, and the locust was all there. SO I turned around and went down a side road to see if they were working there, sure enough this nice little pile of sugar maple was waiting for me. I got home, changed my clothes and headed out in my truck. It looks the two trees they cut were growing out of the ground at an angle, hanging over the road, and they cut them pretty close to the ground. So I got a one mile ride, bucked sugar maple scrounge, and the locust is still there for me next week.
WooHoo!! Its kind of an adrenaline rush only us hoarders would understand when we discover MORE wood on a roadside score. I can relate to the anxiety too. Im sure Eric can too. Like what I did with Asplundh a couple Winters ago. With BL I'd have a "keeping wood" sign plastered there. Better yet camp out to guard it.
