I’m surprised that they don’t expect you to bring an excavator and dig and haul the stumps , then grade and landscape it too. I mean hey, you are getting such a deal, getting it for free I noticed the wood pile next to the shed, I’m surprised that they didn’t want all that valuable wood for themselves Doug.
I believe it would just dis-color the lumber, making it undesirable. I milled pine like that before, had gray colorations. (internet pic)
Dark areas in otherwise light wood. As I understand, certain types of soils will 'leech' some 'mineral' into the tree causing the discoloration. For standard saw logs not really an issue. It is an issue on Prime and Veneer logs because they are always utilized for their appearance charachteristics.
I’ve heard that beetle killed pines have dark streaks in them. Also heard that it can make it more desirable for certain things, not sure if that equates to more valuable or not. The pictures are on my basement wall. Was told it was from beetles It’s the stuff that appears blue-grey
I had heard it had something to do with beetles as well. I asked the Duck, and this is what the Duck had to say: In 1998 a then girlfriend and I bought a Log cabin, not far from where I now live, and I overlaid a lot of the sheetrock with knotty pine. I hand selected all the boards and used a lot of the Blue Knotty Pine, it can be very attractive. I was also able to select some Chocolate swirl pine, but that was much less common than the Blue Pine. I used the Chocolate pine on a short wall between the bathroom and laundry room, as I wasn’t able to find much of the Chocolate, and I wanted to emphasize it Both Blue and Chocolate Knotty Pine can really really stand out, and be very desirable Cellphones didn’t have cameras then like they do now, so I don’t have any pictures of the knotty pine I put up, I wish I did, but I don’t think that the Wife or Ex girlfriend are either likely to buy a story that I just want to go in the cabin to get some pictures of the walls, especially in the bedroom Doug
