Wish I had an answer for you. With my set up I can only bring in bucked rounds and maybe skinnies in length. Great that you have room for them.

jo191145 has a sweet set up for hauling logs. Dump trailer with built in winch.

You might be ahead of me in the mulberry department. Good job on the sale!

If I had a dump trailer my life would be simple. I just can't justify $10K for something that would be used so little. Here's where I'm at so far. There are some big pieces that need to come out.[IMG]

I have some really dedicated customers! These nearly wiped out all my bundles and loaded in the rain. I watched from the pleasant dryness of my barn.[IMG]

WinonaRail Do you have or could you make some ramps you could drive the front of your truck up on, just enough to give the bed a bit of a slant to help you roll the larger pieces off?

Wood troll has the right answer to your unloading issue. Only problem is it’s not your trailer. Trying to pull a full load off may cause some damage some day somewhere.
Another option is to pull it off in smaller bites. I see lots of grass, what do you have for a tractor/atv? Anything that could pull the logs off one or two at a time?
I’ll toss out this warning,,,most ropes and chains store energy while pulling and if something slips it can come flying right back at you. Need either chains that are so strong they’ll never snap and good cinching so they don’t slip,,,,,or buy a synthetic winch rope and slip knot it onto the log. Syn winch lines don’t whip unless you have something else attached that stores energy.

Get an small eye bolt screw into cut face of round
Hint right size fits into screw gun
Hook small chain and pull off
Or a peavey and just roll off leverage if not hydraulics

That would be helpful except this is a trailer. Rolling isn't bad even level except for the really big pieces with crotches that simply aren't round enough to roll.

No tractor. I use my father-in-law's skid steer but it hasn't been available since April. That leaves my Gator CX (smallest model). I already decided that is likely my best option (although not great).

I have the Peavey. Works great on the ground. But the trailer has pretty high sides. With logs dropped in randomly on top of each other and typically oriented front to back, they're pretty hard to get turned sideways. I'm thinking dragging is the only option.

Thats the FHC capitalist spirit! :salute:

I found a tightly packed bag of mulberry splitter shards today at storage and will post those up for sale. Thinking the were from two Winters ago. I know some smokers like to use chips instead of splits.

What about just bucking up the logs in the trailer and then rolling the rounds off - do you have room and/or time to unload this way? You'd have to blow or sweep a lot of sawdust out, though.

I can count pear and MB sales on two hands combined for YTD.

I had an inquiry for my 1/4 cord of MB on FBM. Turns out they bought a half cord of the same from me last year and loved it. Hour long ride one way but I made out very well on the sale and delivery.

Space is really tight and logs are going all kinds of directions. I'll try to cut a few but I think most will end up on the ground. Plus I don't want my chain running into the trailer floor.

Great idea! One thing I haven't done is separate species of splitter scrap. I like it!

That's a long drive! Do you charge a flat rate, by the mile or other for deliveries?

Mulberry shards. DSCF0095.JPG DSCF0097.JPG I started doing that with barkless BL 2-3 years ago. If I know wood will generate lots of shards I'll have an open bag next to the splitter and fill as I'm working.
