They were talking about that on the radio today, but it was because of disease.

You get some poplars changing color here in a few weeks here but thats normal. They areearly to turn. Sometimes its drought stress and many people say that but they just loose them early.

Agreed on the poplars, same thing here, draught stress. Although this summer has been good compared to most with rainfall. Let's see what August has in store, still can't believe its aug 1st

Nasty short storm came through around 6pm last night, turned the place White as in hail couple inches worth. Looked like The W word out there for a few hours.

I see it is getting cooler in some of your locations. Eh? I was really surprised the other day when someone said 20 degrees! Tell us what your temps are and what you are burning to keep the chill off when you get those fires going. Keep those chimneys clean and make sure those smoke detectors are working.

It is still warm here. 45 degrees on the back porch earlier this morning. I'm burning some White Ash and some Birch. The oil boiler will not come on much at all for the next seven months.

Had a couple fires yesterday, and could have done fine with just the first one.:headbang:Got a bit toasty in here once the outside temps came up.
It's a little warmer today, so maybe no fire.
Very little wood use from the shed, mostly just pieces of kindling so far.

Days in the mid 70's and nights still in the high 50's here. Had a fire two weeks ago when the night time temps dropped into the mid 40's. Supposed to drop into the 40's again saturday night so i'll be loadin her up for sure. Whatever they're callin for it's always 5-10deg colder out her near the bogs. :shiver:

Don't have much shoulder season stuff so i'll be tappin into the oak.

Next week, the temps will drop enough where I think I'll be burning. Pear, maple, poplar mix.

I've had the windows open, no AC and no heat, for about a month now. The days are in the 70's, and nights in the lower 50's.

We're still in the low 70s, thankfully.

10 day forecast still shows no burning for a while. And I'm just fine with that.

We're still too warm. high 40s overnight, 60s during the day. Our "days" are getting shorter though with more sundown than sunup so the house temp is creeping down.

Dang Dave, that's cold! How much cordage do you go through during a normal season?
