Ya need to talk to that Nashville fella, he can take some of those BENJAMINS and make perfect, awesome farwood from it...
Well, whoever built my first house must have borrowed your chalk line, did you also loan them a 12 pack? That is one of the reasons why I like our conifers, especially Douglas Fir, Very Straight, you usually aren’t messing with limbs for firewood. With the limbs you just walk the log cutting them off, maybe throw some out of the way, and you just leave them in the forest. The rounds are, well, nice and Round and roll well to the trailer or splitter Just like bucking telephone poles, any guesses as to the preferred trees for telephone poles, and why? Doug
As my pic above shows, especially D Fir, are known for shedding their lower limbs as they grow While that pic was taken at the Baldock rest area near Wilsonville, OR those trees naturally shed those lower limbs, they weren’t trimmed by the hwy dept. Doug
Pffft one trip to Nashville will cover the cost 2x plus pay for a full tank of diesel plus buy 4 more loads of perfect white oak and hickory limbs
