I’ve been looking at FBMP for “easy” scores. This long straight oak got my attention. Ended up being 21 miles away. Leaf pic says black oak. Been processing a lot of these lately. No complaints either. Rocks everywhere at this location. It was only a matter of time before I bumped one. Long piece of aluminum gutter too. 28” bar on the SCarr394. Definitely not a monster. Noodlerama. Some were too heavy in halves, had to quarter em. Truck & trailer load.
Real nice tree. Straight oak, doesn’t get any better than that. Nice score. Scores have been few and far between around here lately.
Nice when you can sink a saw into a full size tree like that. PITA when its on rocks. Seems no matter how careful you are the saw nicks one. Did you have to clean up brush? Whaddaya thinking for yield Jason?
I made 2 piles of brush. That tree broke off a smallish cedar that I just left so I didn’t really clean up much. It was behind a rock border so not in their yard. I’ve got a pile of chain to grind. Haven’t done any in a while so I’m overdue. The 394 made very quick work of bucking and noodling, till I bumped rock. Only had one chain for it so the 365 did the rest. Top section was all 350/46. Can’t be a full cord IMO. Trailer was packed but the truck was not. Splitting might get me to 1 but I’m doubtful. I didn’t unload yet. I was soaked and hungry for lunch, then the temp was north of 80 so I’ll do it tomorrow morning when it’s cooler.
Very nice score BuZZsaw Brad is right no matter how careful you are always seem to hit a rock or something When I have a rain day like yesterday that is when I grind any chains I have
nice score, neighbor just had a huge oak taken down. I am still smarting over not asking if I could get any of it. I'm trying to relocate so it is pointless.
Rain days have few and far between lately. We got some last night but last time I mowed grass I made more dust than anything. I just put a pile of chain in my small bucket to soak in Purple Power. I always clean/de-oil them first so as not to pack the wheel with lube.
Been pretty dry here too. Ive been somewhat nervous to start the firepit the last few times. Line of storms and the current rain it has wet it down pretty good.
Yes, I probably have 8 cords and it's all good to go and this place doesn't require a lot to heat. Even that far ahead I would of taken as much as I could from the neighbor. it looked as nice as your score. I might have shed a small tear as they mulched most of it. Main trunk looked to be over 3' in diameter and they took all that from what I could tell.
