Keeping in my tradition of being lazy I had a nice clean up job in front of me and was determined not to do it manually. The Polaris sportsman is still down and now not likely to ever run again so I went back to the Honda and the little plow it came with. Had to cut off the plow mount that’s on the machine, it had seen enough rocks over the years the plow would no longer fit to it. The U bolts were trash and needed to be cut off. The mount just needed a little straightening with a 3lb hammer on an anvil. Had to relocate the tiny winch that is mounted to the plow thanks to the front hitch I put on it.
She’s working, it’s smaller than the Polaris plow but works for this just as well. Went to try it yesterday, no phone, no pics and got carried away with the progress. Moved five loads into the trails yesterday and two more this morning.

Not bad for just a plow, no rake, no hands. That’s about as neat as I get. :)

    What happened to the Polaris?
    The cleanup looks very acceptable!

It’s a Yard Glider. Used to show up in my FB feed constantly. They work fairly well. My original intent was to put it under the splitter to catch wood chips. Not worth the hassle for that but it still comes in handy.
Just the other day I moved a 55 gallon barrel of water (3/4 full) from my house to the burn pit in my processing area. First time using it for that. I was surprised I lost not one drop. In a wagon or truck it would have spilled all over.

It’s not 100% yet but Polaris is saying it needs a new wiring harness. That’ll cost just about half of what I paid for the machine new. I can’t see paying half for a machine I already paid in full for LOL. The dealer may offer me a few bucks for it. I’ll probably take it home and wiggle some wires, pull apart the wire bundles where they are attached to the frame, look for internal abrasion. Check the steering head area where they real get a workout. It’s becoming a more common problem these days and I doubt I’ll find anything but I owe it that much. I just don’t have the experience or patience for all that computer wiring but I’ll give it one last shot before parting out or selling it as a parts machine. It worked very well when it worked.

I may look into making a 'hillbilly' version. Just need to find the right piece of used conveyor belting.

It's handy to have a beagle to inspect your work. :) My good friend Maggie likes to keep up with everything I do. Here she is recently inspecting my pile of salvage cut ash wood:

Usually the hillbilly version consists of an old pickup bed liner or a Cadillac hood from the 70’s or 80’s LOL

Or there's this idea. I don't remember where I found this - it might have even been on here. It made me laugh just because of the hillbilly-ness of it, but it's not a bad idea:

Not bad. I’d do it a little different. Cut the top from the front to the back, down to the ground level. Fold that steel back till it lays flat on the ground. Now you have a ground level sled for loading and unloading and sides towards the front. Just one tank should be about 8’ long when done.

Interesting! I had roughly the same idea, but our land is rough and steep in much of the the wooded parts. I figured I’d spend a lot of time backtracking to pick up spilled wood. :)

dragging a sled up a mountain is one thing. Dragging it down is another. A weighted sled will just slide forward into your pulling vehicle. Better off with some sort of trailer with a tongue I’d think. Brakes on it wouldn’t hurt either
