I had to leave my old starting music service that I had for over 14 years. It was originally called Rhapsody when I started using it. Then they brought back the Napster moniker a number of years ago. Napster had lossless music quality and was very good. Then about a few months ago, they started getting less music, certain albums wouldn't ever be available, and then a couple of weeks ago, a crap-ton of my songs on my downloaded music, both on and off my playlists that I created, just vanished. Looking online on reddit, it appears that this was very widespread. So bad that I switched services last weekend. I went to tidal. I'm pretty pleased so far. They give a month of free service. For a slight upcharge or 2 dollars I got 60 days. That's fine. This will allow me to transfer my playlists to tidal.

I saw Asleep at the Wheel last night!
Excellent show in a small venue in the western Maine Mountains.

This is why I just use yootoob for streaming. I have apps on my phone for free mp3 downloads of basically anything but it's not audiophile quality. Plenty good enough though, for the price. I still listen to trad radio and fall back to my stash on the phone if not near a puter. Long time ago I was a Slacker Radio listener. I can't remember what went sour there.

And our local alternative rock radio station was just sold to a klove christian radio group. There's already 2 of those in town. How many more do they need? So we'll lose the best and really only alr rock station that's been in Milwaukee for decades. In this sale they are also buying another Milwaukee station, that plays a variety of music, all on the lighter side. So what's left? The rock station that can play decent stuff from time to time, but plays too much AC/DC (yuck) and only the bad pearl jam songs. They repeat to many songs that it's hard to listen to that station due long. So I guess it's good that I subscribed to a different music service. I'm the truck and SUV, I would play traditional radio stations most of the time. Especially for short drives. It's only a couple of taps away to stream music, but when your only going less than 5 miles it's easy to just listen to traditional radio stations.

  Back In Black or You Shook Me 14 times a day?? Relatable. I do like me some accadacca, but mostly the stuff with Bon. I wonder why the oldies station here never plays Squealer? lol

I've recently noticed that they are ignoring the 90s like it wasn't 30 years ago. Still playing 60s, but no 90s.

I call that AC DC and similar music, butt rock. Around here 90's music is being played in the classic rock stations. Maybe that's one way I deal with the lack of stations.

I was gonna say, “people still listen to the radio?” Everybody I know under a certain age stream…

I stream, but I like options. I'm old school in some ways, but in many ways I'm much younger than my age.

FM radio does not require anything of me other than the volume knob. Bluetooth, playlists, music apps and all are sometimes 'cumbersome' when you just need a little background noise. I have a classic rock station out of the next town over and an 'oldies' station here in town. Bluegrass on Sunday afternoons from local public broadcast station.

In today’s time it’s rare to have someone come into the shop and request an aftermarket cd player. I’d say 90% use apple cap play or android auto. I will always fit in the cd category but I do mostly stream in the vehicles. It’s hard to beat the convenience of hearing only what you want and zero commercials or commentary. Maybe part of that is the lack of a good station around us. They all stink.
I do have a decent variety of music on compact disc. :D

Sigh. My discs are mostly destroyed. They all still play, kinda. Too many abusive years swapping them out at traffic lights I suppose.

I actually enjoy *some of the trad radio commercials on our station. The local stuff. There's a lumberyard that pays for goofy/corny promos and they're actually funny. Often they will include a 'dad joke' or a reference to an 80s movie. I don't mind that kind of advertising at all. It's when the 3rd in a row ad for some 'cure' for a disease I didn't know existed comes on... :hair:

It also gets me out of my bubble. Hearing stuff I forgot about or something new in case of streaming. I'm doing 1975 hits today. Kindof a downer time for music it seems. Very dramatic songs, not much fun stuff. Did hear the theme from Rockford Files little bit ago.

Yep. Start the car, you have music. Now if the only station wants to play back in black and then thunderstruck in a row, I'm going to do whatever I can to not hear that. Lol
