IMG_1577.jpeg August is shaping up to be a decent month. Will deliver 40+ ricks with what I have on my delivery schedule. Cooler weather is allowing me to cut and deliver on the same day.

My customer for a cord this Friday wants a 50/50 Rick of 20” cherry and white oak in two weeks once he gets his back deck finished on his new home. Got the cherry cut and stacked today and will work on the white oak portion after delivering tomorrow. According to Zillow, he paid 1.1 million for the property and bulldozed down the existing home to build his new shack. Hey, happy to help him out with life.

A major advantage I have in the Nashville region is I have one of Tennessee’s top loggers 4 miles from my property. I pay him a premium for whatever I need. I go to his place, cut it, haul it home, split and stack it, season it to 15% or less and you know the rest.

I told the dude if I custom cut his firewood that it might not be ready to burn until Christmas. What you all don’t know is my list of loggers that I can tap into to purchase whatever I need. Yep, I pay up for it but usually sell it for 5-6 times what I pay for it. I am fully booked for four facecords a day through this coming Saturday. So will be raising my prices to over $300 a face cord. Plenty of firewood for sale on FB marketplace for under $100. Don’t understand why people want my firewood?

1/2 a cord of 20” cherry I cut yesterday. It is all split and stacked as of this evening. Think I’ll be able to sell it? Delivered three ricks of hickory today to two customers. $65 in tips. Paid for all my diesel IPAs and whiskey for the day.

I like how you all question my operation like I am some newbie to the firewood thing. The cherry logs were about six months timbered. Notice the cracks and missing bark. I don’t typically sell any firewood above 15% moisture unless the customer insists.

My take on FHC “Firewood Market forum.” Sell a face cord for under $100 and you are doing Gods work by helping out those that are just trying to stay warm. $100 to $120 and you are one of the crowd. $140-160 and you are the man. $300 and you are the sole reason for everyone that died from hypothermia the past year. Am I right?

My second year of delivering to Roy. He ordered a full cord from me last October. He asked me what I did before firewood. After I told him he opened up about working for the Agency as an operator. This dude went into places and did things that would have got him executed in a heartbeat if caught. No Calvary was coming in to rescue his ash. Anyway, he ordered two cords from me Saturday and I delivered his first cord today. He told me my white oak firewood last year was the best he ever burned and he thought I was a great guy. Coming from a 92 year old guy I was speechless. Roy is the real deal that makes America great. Delivering him bone dry ash and hard maple tomorrow after a restaurant delivery.

So have a customer’s order for 20” cherry and white oak finished. After handing me nine Benjamins for a cord, he told me he wanted a Rick of 20” cherry and white oak for his back deck once he got the stone work sealed. I found him the best and most seasoned logs in middle TN or maybe the country. Besides delivering to Roy today and loading for a hickory restaurant delivery tomorrow, this is what else I accomplished today.
