Very tempting for some lowlife to remove the hitch lock and steal the wood and trailer all at once, without much effort.

He doesn't seem to be claiming that the wood is dry and ready to burn so that seems fine. Buyer beware.

I cut a small load of basswood rounds from my new source. He had the logs pulled off the pile with his tractor and I loaded them with a ramp. It filled about 2/3 of a 330 gallon IBC tote along with some bundle wood.

The guy has some huge maple log sections, probably 3'+ in diameter. I plan to cut and noodle them next weekend and bring them home. He basically lets me have anything he doesn't want.[IMG][IMG]

IME 4 foot maple rounds are a royal PITA, hardly ever one stem usually 3 or 4 stems grown together. You are going to noodle and buck in the same cut. At the top of each log there will be what we call leaders. Basically several 2 foot diameter branches that grow up from base. Almost guaranteed, to have rot there as snow water froze in crotch of tree, it leaked sap
Ants ate it, later in years add Mice chipmunk squirrel etc have big hollow sections
Ohh it’s grain goes every which way so it splits hard and ugly..
I am not saying you won’t get heat from it! Just it’s not much of a “gift”

I checked on one of my favorite pallet stores after work yesterday and found 2 stacks of the heavy ones. Went home and changed, grabbed the empty gas caddy and proceeded to load pallets. I left 4 behind but needed to leave room for the caddy.

Tree service left me a mixed bag of logs. Not the best variety but it all burns. I'll have it processed by the weekend.[IMG][IMG]

I stopped at a recycling center last week and picked up 5 plastic pallets. No charge. I will us them to stack splits on.

I like the plastic pallets as they never rot! Nice score.

I'm a big fan of plastic pallets and always snag them when I can find them. I actually use them as a roof/cover for 1/4 cord racks that I make from wood pallets.

Yes they are! They're great for stacking on. I actually build 1/4 cord racks and use them as the base. They hold up for a few years.

Nothing wrong with that arrangement as long as the wood works for you.

Got a call on Wednesday. One of my bundle regulars has a new store. He needs a rack built and stocked with wood. Ill make extra for delivery as its 25 minutes/15+ miles from storage. This will be my eighth store/station. Hope I'm not getting in too deep?

Smoker sales have been dead until today. Guy bought four(two bags of apple chunks, two cherry bundles)
and a repeat from a month ago stopped by for two oak and two hickory. Just had an order for three more tomorrow.

That's great. More profit margin on bundles, isn't it?

Sounds like you're on the way to becoming the bundle king of the East! I'm glad it's working out for you.

Found this when I got home from work Monday. I got it all bucked last week and started splitting today. Some of the barkless logs were dry.[IMG][IMG]

Went back to my new source and bucked up a load of the big rounds he had for me. After I had it loaded he came out and was showing me some more wood. He got a load of what he referred to as Chinese elm, although he said it actually had a Russian name that he couldn't pronounce. Anyway, he said I could have all I wanted. So it looks like I'll be back to start working on that soon.[IMG]
