First try with the splitter

Finally fired up the pre-owned Champion 27 ton splitter.
My back does not like me standing at a partial bend and being 6’4” tall I was pleasantly surprised it was high enough for me to operate without issue while standing.
I’ve got some bigger rounds and I think I’m going to try it in the vertical configuration.

I just use a round. Only gotta crouch for the last one.

Great invention, they sure make wooden’ less worse. Helps put the fun back in the chore after the years have taken their toll. Don’t get caught up in the splitter addiction, cost more than the chainsaw addiction disorder.

Jeff, you forgot about the boat cushion atop the milk crate. Got to have a cushy tushy! (Not that I would ever admit to "going vertical")

Still using my Yard Machine splitter as well as the Champion. Both will get the job done.

 

Funny how the base of the champion splitter that looks just like a rebadged Huskee splitter still has the big H that I thought stood for Huskee.

I'm in the PNW too and nothing gets split horizontal except kindling.

Nice machine. Can you post a video of it going through the full cycle. Im curious to see how much faster it is vs a "generic" hydro.

 

I prefer an old folding chair with a cushion. A little higher than a milk crate.
