Morning all. Sunny this morning. Calm with wisps of fog here and there. It is really a beautiful morning. I think we are in for a clear stretch for a couple of days.
Blue Jays game this morning and then grocery shopping and chores.

    Everyone have a great day.

Sawdust Man Does the pink colour in the cedar boards remain or does it fade out over time? Our cedars are yellow (cyprus) or red tinged (red cedar). Nothing with that spectacular colouring.

Morning. Finally a beak in the temperature. Thursday is a free day, with nothing on the schedule. Plan to change oil on th3 Ridgeline, and take the Challenger to a cruise in. Have nothing to do with firewood lately. Too hot and too snakey to be in the trees

Good morning, ya'll. Hope ya'll have a TREMENDOUS THURSDAY. 72⁰/89⁰ clear. Need to pull the camper out and try a different hitch, I don't like the WD hitch that came with it. Going to try regular hitch, if that does OK, we will probably get the Andersen hitch like we have on the dump trailer.
Nap after lunch, start 6PM-6AM shift a night early, more OT this week.
We did split some oak yesterday morning and finish that tote. 20250820_101529.jpg

    Good morning.

    69/89

Planning to work today......possibly dirt work, possibly something else......we'll see what happens.

Yesterday morning Tom and I got the metal on the porch roof, afterwards I went to the city and bought a wood lathe to flip.

    Have a blessed day folks!

    Mornin sister.

Unfortunately it fades to a not so vibrant copper-brown due to oxidation & uv exposure....it does maintain a good contrast with the white sapwood.
The posts & beams on the porch project are a good example of the change in color as it's exposed to sunlight.
If used inside and out of the sunlight the color holds up much better.

I'm very familiar with western red cedar as I've milled probably around a million bf of it, it's somewhat similar to this stuff and at the same time it's very different.....I've milled a small amount of yellow cedar as well.....very pungent wood!

This wood is technically a juniper, but cedar is easier to say and is what everybody calls it.......just "cedar" or "eastern red cedar".

I managed to split a very little bit of wood again yesterday but not without help. Only did enough to fill one front end bucket before calling it quits. Might try again today but the hurt is still with me.

Morning all. Sunny again today with temps to be warmer. Might hit 70F! No rain in the future for a few days.
Vet appointment for Lady as a check up. She will need her meals cut back a bit as the treat department has been very generous. Treats are just a different type of dog food but she loves them.
Cooking for potluck today and laundry. Hoping to visit with friends around a campfire tonight.

Sawdust Man thanks for the information about the cedar. I have a red cedar chest that my grandfather made me when I was in my teens. It was my "hope" chest. Hope chests were given to young girls in the early 1900s so they could start accumulating linens, bedding, quilts etc. for their marriage. It still has quite a smell when you open the lid to get something out of it. My mother has one as well that her father made her. Grandfather also made me a small one for the first teenage doll that my grandmother dressed and gave me for Christmas before I got the big one. He didn't make large hope chests for my daughters as he wasn't able to do large projects and died shortly before either of them were thinking of marriage but he did make them small ones for dolls when they were little. Family legacies that will be past down through the family.

Backwoods Savage Praying that today will be a better day for your back.

    Everyone have a great day.

    Good morning, members.

Nice day ahead. 51⁰/80⁰ low humidity.

I just might get some trigger time in this morning.

I'll be throwing together a bowl of coleslaw this afternoon to take with us tomorrow, to my cousin's beach house.

    Be safe
    Be healthy

Good morning, ya'll. Hope ya'll have a FABULOUS FRIDAY. 72⁰/80⁰, cloudy with good chance of rain. First night of work down, a few more to go. Going to pick up breakfast for us, then hope to move a tote of oak to storage.

Thank you. I did manage a few more minutes at the splitter yesterday. Then after about 4 hours I tried to do more but could no handle it. Will try again today. I love working now that it is cooler but my body doesn't. I still hope some day to get some relief but nothing is happening yet. Right now waiting on the hospital.

Morning all. Another sunny day ahead but right now we have fog.
Donating blood today so not much else will be done.
Had a nice visit with friends last night but not around a campfire. Campfire ban in place right now.

    Everyone have a great day.

Donating blood is something I need to get back in the habit. Had so many health issues I just haven't done it. The big red bus used to come to our church but hasn't been in a couple years.
Took today off to do some things but of course it's raining again. Came a big storm yesterday right after I got home from work.
