I typically only need about a year. But I tend to split pretty small and store in IBC totes in full sun. I've had some black locust for over a year and it still isn't dry.

I've never had requests for it. But who even knows to ask? I like to give people options. Some people are adventurous and willing to try stuff.

I had a little time this morning so I split more of the sugar maple dropped by my tree service buddy. I hauled it back to my storage yard and split it into an empty rack. There's enough left for at least one more rack. That would be roughly 3/4 cord.[IMG][IMG]

I said I wasn't planning to look for wood on Marketplace but I found something. Another wood seller had a decent size pile of logs from a cottonwood tree that he didn't want. I cut about half and brought it home. I'll get the rest later this week. Most will probably be dry enough for bundles before cold weather gets here. He said he would put me on a list of people to call when he has wood to get rid of.[IMG]

Hopefully you've made a good connection.

There's a few large cottonwood logs at my "unlimited" score. Gonna ask if I can cut one or two. Ill mix a split in with bundlewood.

Had a guy drive from Massachusetts (45 minutes North to the line from me) for a bundle of apple and three cherry. He was Ukranian. Heavy accent. Some of my other customers have been foreigners.

Maybe there is something to the "foreign connection"? 45 minutes is a pretty long trek for 3 bundles!

It isn't my preferred setup but I don't have access to the skid steer so I have to take the wood where it's going to be stacked. Since I have a few empty racks in storage, that's where I split it.

One guy was from Puerto Rico and another from the Phillipines. May have been another country but I forget. 2-3 formerly of Southern states. Guy last week was a Texan.

Delivered to my 100 bundle guy. He had only six left. Bundles are a mix of Norway, red, & silver maple with cherry, tulip poplar, and cottonwood. IMG_7724.JPG IMG_7725.JPG IMG_7726.JPG Thinking all of them are stocked although my best guy was getting low. I drive by him regularly.

I had my first sale of apple smoking wood (bagged 8" mini splits) along with honey locust and loose stacks (about 50 splits) of hickory and cherry. Now if I just had some pecan to put in the firewood stand... :D

    Good sale!

I hit a dry spell. No smoker sales. Couple tire kickers last week.

You going to Ohio in October?

I didn't have any smoking wood sales last week. Yesterday was a very good day. When I got home from work, I found that cherry, oak, hickory and pear bags also sold. I guess it's good to have some of the best variety in North America.

I'm kicking around the idea of going to the GTG. It would probably just be for a day but I'm going to try to work it in.
