I did my third Murph this morning and my slowest yet. That’s kind of pizzing me off but I did prepare a lot for my first one and it was cooler then… that’s what I’m telling myself! I also had my yearly physical. 2 years ago the doctor wanted to put me on high blood pressure medicine. I was routinely running 140ish over 100 ish. I convinced him to let me try and control it on my own without medicine. I started eating better and working out some. In the last 16 months, I have made my health a priority. I eat much better, I cut out drinking altogether and workout with a purpose (hence the Murph). I am down 40 pounds and my blood pressure this morning was the best since I was a teenager, coming in at 110/80. I’m not posting this to brag but to let others know that you can take your health into your own hands. You may have different results but I can guarantee your health will improve. It wasn’t easy at first but stick with anything long enough and it can become your new norm.

Excellent Joe! Your not bragging at all. Sharing your success may inspire others! The humidity knocks the stuffing out if me. I have a very hard time being productive outside when it gets humid. Great you were able to lower your blood pressure without any meds. Keep up the great work & keeping us posted!:)

It's been a while since I've updated this thread. I have been doing Murph activities while working out but not pushing myself or doing more than 50%-70% of the workout. I also started running more seriously as I figured that was a good place to try and shave some time off. I am up to running 8 miles at a time. I did a full Murph on Thursday and was able to crush my best time, doing it in 48 minutes and 45 seconds. Blood pressure was 111/73 this morning and my weight hovers in the mid 170's....it was pushing 220 back in April 2024 - didn't realize I was that fat haha! Once I give my body a day or 2 to recover from a full Murph or a long run, I feel like I'm 20-25 years younger. There's more spring in my step and I don't feel fatigue as quickly as I used to. If you are on the fence about working out or have a hard time staying motivated, keep looking to find a work out that suits you - one that pushes you but also one that you don't hate. Everything I had ever done in my life workout wise up until I found the Murph seemed boring and pointless.

Shaved another 45 seconds off my time earlier in the week. I’d love to get it 45 minutes even.

Congratulations! Admire your strategy and dedication! Just reading this reminds me when I used to run, strength training and distance cycle….. but that was about 35 years ago.
