Saw a BIG woodchuck climb over my pile of rounds today. I wasn’t quick enough to grab the rifle and he slipped away. My son saw it later and thought it was a big beaver! It lived to fight another day, but we’ll get it. That pile is going to be split and stacked soon, so mr woodchuck will have to come out some time.

I was just working on that. I figure 1-2 face cord. Pretty lazy critter. I have had others that were much harder workers.

I’ll have to split about 20 cord to get to him. Looks like he lives right in the middle of the pile.

Found this garter snake while unstacking the other day. Took the pics and let it go back in another stack. Later found a snakeskin. IMG_7753.JPG IMG_7751.JPG IMG_7752.JPG IMG_7750.JPG

View attachment 454633 Moving some splits today and found this little guy. Found a larger one prior, but got the camera for this one as it was kinda cute. Found another the same size later. Several skins found too. Haven't seen too many snakes in the stacks this Summer. DSCF0007.JPG

I was moving some wood a few days ago and saw a snake in my wood pile. I didn't have a camera with me but I think it may have been a bull snake. I let it go about its business patrolling the stacks.

I wish I was quick enough to get a picture earlier today, but I came across the biggest creature I’ve ever found in one of my oak piles that I was relocating. Right at the top of the stack just under the tarp an opossum had taken up residence. At first all I saw was the tail and assumed it was a rat. I yanked the tarp all the way off in one motion and it turned around, giving me the death stare before scampering off. No doubt it didn’t like being woken up in the middle of the afternoon.

special notices sent via airmail on wood chucks the last couple years, score is 1 hit 1 miss this year. Had one high tailing it for parts unknown way out of rim fire range, at minimum 200 yards going away. not able to get 22/250before out of sight.

Hauling some red oak into the basement for this coming burning season. I found one bat. Alive and healthy......just a little perturbed that it was disturbed.
