It really was Brad! Low 60’s when I got it started. Woke up and it was 48 this morning. Ahhhhh! Nice and refreshing.

Nice dry day here so we sat outside for a few hours and enjoyed it. Random junk wood in the firepit. May do it again today even though the humidity is up. IMG_7670.JPG

Finally, finally got some decent weather here, low RH, relatively cool temperatures.
Time for an outdoor meal and campfire at the cabin. My homemade sausage and veggies from the garden.

Burned up the last of ash tree tops that had leaves on them yesterday. No pics-as usual.......

But, you all know what a brush fire looks like by now! :salute:

What I learned: Catalpa is very noisy when burning. Continuous pops and crackles until burned down. Would not recommend in a fire place.

Yes, been there done that. I traded a friend a 4x8 trailer full of catalpa splits for campfire wood in exchange for the use of his camper a couple of 4th of July's ago. Let's just say that there was never a dull moment when having fires. Popping and flaming projectiles were an every fire occurrence. Chairs were bailed out of several times.

I never knew. I have probably burned some mixed in a brush pile before and didn't notice. There was almost a whole 14" tree in that pile there.

Ive sold a couple small loads of mulberry advertised as snap crackle pop wood. Both customers didn't want it again. Burned indoors in fireplaces. I had warned them ahead of time.

While company was here, we lit a fire and kept it going for 5 days. For the overnights, we would put on a couple pieces of green basswood. Plenty of coals and unburnt wood each morning made it easy to keep lit.

I haven't checked it this morning yet.

Tonight's fire. It's warm, about 80° out, but I need some fire to chill out by. That and tomorrow night is supposed to rain a lot.

    So tonight it is. PXL_20250809_012550949.MP.jpg

I'll just keep it smaller and not put a lot of wood on it at a time.
