Oddly enough, several of the FBM inquiries I get for smoking wood come from other products I post (firewood bundles, bulk wood, etc.) I think the key is just getting your name out in front of people so everybody knows that you're the firewood guy in the area.

New customer who bought three smoker bundles recently called yesterday and wants and 1/8 cord of cooking wood. I have some loose sugar maple. Turns out he is a professional chef who caters to outdoor functions. Lives close by to boot. Thinking I have a new regular customer.

Awesome! Hopefully he appreciates the quality of your products and will use even more wood with a good source to buy from!

Repeat customer wanted 1/8 cord of cooking wood. He caters for outdoor functions. He had bought some bundles for smoking recently. We had a good chat and I educated him on what would suit his needs. Delivered some dead sugar maple on Sunday. He showed me nuggets he has used for smoking. I have a lot of that on hand and will accommodate him.

Delivered 60 bundles to my one of my locals last week. Another 30 to another and 40 going out today for the last of the three close by. Messaged my 100 bundle guy and haven't heard back.
Todays delivery puts me over 1100 sold this year, not counting smoker bundles.

You sir are killing it in bundles! I've only sold a measly 93 campfire bundles plus 57 minis. Of course most of my volume is small loose stacks. I like how you reach out proactively to your customers to keep the deliveries going. Well done!

Have a smoker order for an apple and two oak but want 4-5" nuggets. Cut up some crooked twisty unbundleable (is that a word?) apple splits. Took two oak bundles and cut into thirds. Actually used the Dewalt 20volt saw and it did okay. Some of the oak chunks. (not a full bag) IMG_7579.JPG He lives close by so I'll drop off in the morning.

Looks good. We used the new 12" miter saw to cut those pecan splits down to 8"

Ive thought of using the miter saw but as a tradesperson I'll shy away from that knowing how dangerous the kickback could be plus it will mess up the saw.

Be extra careful when you do my friend. Hate to see anything bad happen to you. :handshake:

When you get an order for 8" pieces what is the volume? Maybe the 2511 might be better?

I use my 12" corded DeWalt for cutting 8" splits (16" cut in half). I have occasionally had kickback. I use an 80 tooth plywood blade and it does a pretty good job.

I was Xtra careful, made sure to hold tight and watch for pieces that might bind. We have used the 2511T before.
And thanks for the reminder to be careful :handshake:

I started yesterday morning working on my neighbor's trails. He had a couple trees come down recently. He's older and in poor health. I take care of his tree work. The larger tree was a tri-stem ash. I made a 10' wide path for him to get his golf cart and tractor through. I'll go back later for the rest of the tree.

Got it split this morning and stacked in a tote. It's almost ready to burn, which is why I'm a big fan of ash.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Also yesterday, I picked up a load of mostly basswood for bundles along with a few smaller hickory rounds. I got it from a guy I've bought split wood from for about a year. He didn't have any finished firewood but did have logs. I asked if he would sell by the round. He gladly obliged and cut them right at 16" for me. I got started splitting that load this morning as well before it turned into an oven outside.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

Good source for wood and good on you for helping him out. Will that go to bundle wood and/or loose volume? Should be ready pretty quick.

Had a guy contact me about my apple chunks listing. Turns out he is looking for a cord of semi seasoned for the upcoming Winter. Offered him a half cord of silver maple I split last month as it would be ready for then. Haven't heard back.

I also use a small compound miter saw for my smoker wood.

I use a miter saw for work on a fairly regular basis and wont attempt it. I can remember ruining a blade on my dads band saw years back doing that too.

I'll probably use the 2511T and the limb jig next time. I know it can get sketchy quick, if you're not very careful.
