This might have been covered before but wanting some opinions on the isolators, I've ran both and hate the spring type, I feel like I have no control over the saw. Maybe it's just me. Thanks guys

What kind (model) of saw had the springs?

Spring is preferred by most users. That's why Stihl is starting to run more Springs than rubber.

But some saws have softer springs than others and it makes them feel "mushy" ;)

    BTW- Welcome to FHC!!

I like the spring type. Rubber elastomers degrade & don't hold the balance. Its just one less thing to go wrong with a saw.

You lose a little bit of feeling with rubbers, but they are 99.6% effective ;)

Don't know about Stihl, HVA and Dolmar offer springs for the saws that use them in both 'soft' and 'hard' versions with different part numbers. There are lots of AM AV springs out there but who knows if they are rated. I think Baileys offers NWP springs in both versions.

All of you have some good points but I just dislike the springs. Bought a new Echo 355 Thursday and so far love it. Two reasons I bought it, Stihl was higher in price and has the springs and Echo was cheaper on my wallet.
