Also, let me note which you may have seen, (my avatar), New Jersey IS a Communist Socialist Republic State!!! Just like California, Massachusetts, New York, Maryland, Connecticut just to name a few. This State is now #1 in the most FVC--KED up state there is and is currently beating California for the most gun laws! That is a fact!!

Without getting political, impossible when talking 2a stuff, WI is still pretty safe for gun rights. It'll get better when the clown in charge of this state is finally ousted. He's a fool.

    Btw, nice shed!

Living in the pine barrens helps with that...less people and different people than many other areas in the state. Still a tough state for guns though.

WeldrDave How long did it take you to get all of your permits to do the take down and rebuild?

For what ever reason it did not take the typing in. The first thing I had to do in this Communist state was get a new survey! We were never hit by an asteroid or meteor, the ground didn't change, no Volcanic activity, but I had to get a new survey at $1200.00.:picard: The township said, "Anything over 3 years old is NOT acceptable". here's what it boils down too, the want to see you added on to your home or put anything onto your land so they can TAX you on! With that said, after I got a new survey, they wanted to see the total "completed price" of the building and charge me the permit price from that. And, they did!!! :hair:, $494.00:headbang:. so it took 3 weeks to get a survey, but only a week for the permits. Now I have to go through 2 more Inspections, floor and finished construction. Yes, New Jersey is Communist to say the least and I live in a RED County!

I thought you didn't want to talk about the permit process to keep your blood pressure in check.:hair::hair: At least it isn't as bad as the left coast of this country.

I don't understand the purpose of a survey, when you are in a neighborhood like that. Unless there is a rule about a setback, which doesn't seem to the case, based on how close things look to the fence lines.
The city isn't getting the survey money. Totally understand the permit costs and tax increase, but the survey seems pointless....which is par for the course with government.

I paid $3,300 for my survey a couple of years ago. HOWEVER, there had never been a survey - when the family broke up the parcel it was literally 2 pins and a loose description. The majority of the north side of my lot was a no man's land as the measurements for my land and the apartment building land on that side didn't even come close to adding up - there was 50' or so of "fudge" factor that someone could have taken up camp at and neither of us would have had a leagal leg to stand on to evict them.

I'm sure you paid $1,200 for them to find your pins and say, yep, they are there - about 45 minutes of work (if I'm generous).

The pins were actually visible   3 out of the 4 were clearly seen, one was covered with some dirt and found with a little raking. This was all about wanting to know what "Buildings" were on the land and how much more they can tax you! I read the Instruction for surveyors and they MUST measure and put every building over 100 sqft on the survey! Yes, and 10 x 10 shed MUST be on the survey. $1200.00 @ 35 mins work! Not a Bad hourly wage! :emptywallet: *Edit* note, I had on e survey from 1964 (original), one from 1991 (added bigger driveway), and one from 2001 when (we put our addition on the house).

$1200 sounds more like a plot plan price than an actual topographical survey.
They require them mostly to keep themselves from being sued.

My township required a "Survey"! What that entails is Boundary markers and applicable buildings on lot according to the NJ instruction. Also, distances, N-S-E-W directions relative to the compass on corner points.

Sorry to hear the NH plans aren't going well. At that price to build a house I'd prop up a yurt and call it home. I've been wondering how it was going with that.

At least you'll have a nice building to add value to your place. Make sure there is room to store firewood of course. :stacker: :D
