Not BS, but BL. Black locust that is. Everyone knows how I get rather giddy when I score some. FBM find last night. A bit farther than I'd usually travel and even though it was precut the lengths looked right (only a couple were a bit shorter than 16") so my hoarders intuition said go for it. Some pulling teeth to get the address and off I went late this morning. Back right in and load. Went back to storage and processed it. Not as much as I thought, but got my fix. Being moved to BL storage in the morning.
Sure is! Never any denial here. May go into remission, but can flare up at a moments notice. You and Eric have been slacking off finding FBM BL for me.
I find that surprising considering all the train tracks and manufacturing that went on in your state. I would’ve thought it was just about everywhere,,,,,or at least along new and old tracks.
More than likely there is, just not in areas he travels? Then again I don't think he has locust mania. I could spot them while blindfolded. The lady showed me where the tree was in her back wooded area and I was really surprised not to see any more. Small stream and kinda swampy. Plenty of red maples of course. In my observations BL are usually in little groves or clumps.
I'm as far south as you can get. Yes, there are trees, but again, not as much as you would think. We have a MORE than abundance of Maples and pine. Lots of what we call "pin" oaks, SH!T loads of wild cherry, Mimosa's everywhere, and all the gum tress you can handle. There are some Hickory but again, they are sparse also. When these developments were made in the 40's 50's and 60's the tree of choice for homeowners and developers was the Silver Maple and you can't blink without seeing one. When we get a good rainy Nor-Easter, we get so many "blow overs" it's nuts, wet ground and shallow roots!
