There has to be some members on FHC that spray their yards for mosquitos.....

What concentrate have you been using? I hope to control mosquitos but would also like to cut back the tick population.

As of yet, I don't have a sprayer but have decided on the stihl SR 200 to purchase based on local population's success.

    Thanks!

I guess no one has the need to spray for mosquitos......?

Tractor supply has something called malithion which the clerk said people buy but had no clue (like me) about it. Pretty much like the same answer you'd get at a walmart.

    Permethrin?

    Talstar?

    Bifenthrin?

We used that at our last home for stinging gound bees. Here, we just avoid outside til the ponds/lakes/crops get sprayed around the 4th of July. Some sort of lake nymph hatched and last night there were SO many of the itty bitty things on our sliding door screens it actually blocked some light from my porch light.

I recall there is a gas when I was researching years ago if that helps.

bushpilot used to (or still is) a bush pilot in S Africa. He told me people there use permetherin. IIRC on the net canopies that hang over beds, I wonder if you could spray a perimeter of that?

I would probably not use malithion around your home. We use it in/around grain bins to control insects.

I know up yonder the skeeters are plentiful though. Have you tried putting up bat houses.

The barn swallows here eat lots of skeeters but not nearly enough.

Bat populations have been suffering greatly for a number of years now. I think it's called white nose disease? No matter, if there ever was enough bats to take care of the mosquito problem, then we'd have a bat problem!

Fortunately we have skeeter patrol in our county. They drop pellets in wet areas in spring then after the big hatch in mid to late May they fog a couple times per month. It took may years to get where we are now but it seems we have very few skeeters now compared to what it used to be. Years ago it was terrible at our place as we live in the woods and across the road it gets really wet.
