Got any shipping containers for a shed? Working well for you? Pros, cons? I have new unused units available locally for $3350 (20') How's that price?
I'm not sure I would want to spend that much for storing wood. In addition, there would not be air movement so wood would have to be really dry before storing it inside, even with the doors open.
Hey RCBS , I have two friends up here that have containers as storage sheds. The ventilation is terrible. The one guy has his on some property with no power. You know how it gets up here in Western WA. Extremely damp air. When we opened the container everything was covered with a grey fuzz inside. The other guy had the same problem to a much lesser degree because he had a flood light on constantly inside but the farthest reach was still moldy. If a guy could come up with a good heat/fan ventilator then maybe it would be OK. Also, a coat of spray foam insulation on the inside would help.
Now this is useful information here. (I hadn't even considered) We have a couple at my work and have not yet run into this issue even though we are in a high humidity location. Thank You!
I have 2 used containers. Love them! A New container for $3350, JUMP ON IT! My used ones were $2300.00 each. And they'll hold a Kubota! I have 2@ 20ft'rs
*NOTE*. if you look in the lower doors and up high in the back, I put in stainless boat engine room vents for the summer, They work fantastic!!! Ebay, $18.00 a pair! Or, West marine at about $50.00 a pair... •••••••••"The ventilation is terrible".•••••••••.
Is there a reason you decided to put them on cribbing instead of a gravel bed? (easier leveling is my guess)
I've seen people cut small holes (4"?) along the top and bottom for ventilation...whatever size they were they found vent screens that fit right in the holes. Edit, Dave beat me to it...
My ground was Soooooooooooooo wacky out of level, I went that route. Also, snow melts off under them and it just slows down the rusting process. If I had perfectly flat and level ground, I'd put a pressure treated 4X6 under each corner and the middle for water and air movement. some say put them on the ground, it doesn't make much difference. If it's on the ground it makes it easy to get in and out of...
