I bought a 3000 with a 12" bar when they first came out. Still gets used occasionally. Still have the Homelite I got as a kid...... about 50 years ago...
Lots of folks love the saw and they have sold a ton of them. For tree work at height I am super finicky how the in and out functions with a gloved hand. Personal preference and being spoiled by Stihl ergos.
We have the 1st saw that my dad bought new, a Stihl 029 that huskihl made into a XS029 sleeper saw...it has 039 top end...it is pretty much retired now. We still use our Stihl XS362 that we bought new. It as worn out several bars. 20" bar, semi-chisel chain, cutting off blow downs It was still a stock saw with a 25" bar when we cut this white oak. One of the biggest I've cut. 46" dia. The Stihl MS461 and Echo XS4910 make a great pair...dropped a lot of pines that day
in respect of the McCulloch add. Any idea what year that is? I'd like to put the $225 into inflation adjusted current amounts. Just curious what a saw cost years ago, my guess is it will be a lot.
I have a super 33 that I just hung on my shed. Mine has the chrome badges with the McCulloch goose on them. It was found in the attic of an old schoolhouse teacherage that was moved and turned into a storage shed at the ranch. Neat old saw. i have one of those. Mine is a super 33 with the chrome McCulloch goose logo badges on it. I just hung it on my shed the other day. It was found in the attic of an old schoolhouse teacherage that is being used as a storage shed at the ranch. It is a cool old saw. It runs a gear box which is what made it possible to put the different attachments on it.
My box from Walmart came today... Not just any old Walmart has these... It's purdy... Swapped out the dogs and put a 25" lite bar on it.
Congratulations T.Jeff Veal ! I have the same set up for my MS 400 unfortunately though no xtra sausage !
