Ran the saw about three hours now, two hours straight yesterday. After about five logs about 24 to 28 inches, the saw just took off. became a little loader and was much harder to stall. 65 ft Amercan Elm next years wood.

That sounds exactly like most of the m-tronic fleet. Kinda doggy for the first few tanks and then hang on!

Just wait until you get about 10 tanks of fuel thru it. Gets a little better every one.

I might of asked this last year when I first joined up, but to anyone in the know, how does a ported 261c stack up against a 362c stock or just maybe a muffler mod? 18" .325(261c)vs 18 3/8(362c). Just plain RS full chisel. I would think they would be close...now the real reason to get a 362c, for me anyways(besides CAD) would be the ability to pull a bar longer than 20". But then why not just go 441 or 461 or any good 70cc saw. Now if restricted to one saw  i would say 362c, ported if possible.

A ported 261 is very close to a stock 362. If not better than, because of the lack of weight.

See that's is what I would of guessed...although that 362c seems like an awesome saw, even though it's maybe only a lb. or pound and half heavier than a 261c, the ported 261c is lighter with approximately the same power(???) I still want a 362c or 562/555 nonetheless.

Thats the point in porting? Smaller saw with more power. Port the 362c and u have a different ballgame

Very true. But sometimes a bigger unported saw is just fine for what the job calls for. In my case I like the ported 50cc saws for what I do. Now there is always a want for more power with lighter weight pretty much if the saw can hold up and all.

I have a ported 026, ported 362c, and a ported 461r. For firewood 18" and under ill pick up the 362c everytime. Its my favorite saw because it runs perfect, easy to handle, and very fast.

No u dont but it will give u alot more torque and a smile. Theres other things u can do with sprockets, chain, muffler mods. , etc.

Need has nothing to do with it. We all could get along just fine with a $400 saw.
