That shot above, I would shoot with my right knee down and sitting on my heel/ankle. This gives the right side the stability of lower anchor point/center of gravity for right side hip. Sometimes I have had weird shooting positions due to the height of the rest or undulating terrain/shooting rest. Being on the clock and need to get the shots off leaves some less than desired shooting positions. For me some buddies or video in the squad help with “why did you shoot in that position”? I didn’t believe at first then saw and asked why did I do that? What a fun sport! I am really jealous of the shooting opportunities. But have no desire to leave Alaska.
Thanks. Fused right ankle adds some additional challenges, but then again, there was a dude with a below knee amputation an carbon blade prosthesis there, too.
That makes a lot of sense. How was your stability in that position? When you’re at a match if you get a chance to watch other squads, you will see all kinds of different positions with how a shooter approaches that scenario. May give you some ideas/insight on overcoming some challenges. I always find it interesting on how people uses different approaches to a common scenario.
Have you seen a tripod used on the rear of the stock while the front stock is on the shooting position/obstacle? I remember how brilliant that was the first time I saw that move.
Barrel on the new 6CM is settling down now after about 100 rounds. Here's some basic ladder testing with Vihtavuori N555 powder and Berger 108 gr. bullets. 3/8" - 3/4" at 100 yards. I should be able to find a good load.
55 6 CM cases, twice-fired and re-prepped, ready to load up for some final load development now that the barrel is broken in. I've still got 25 once-fired and 20 never-fired cases in reserve.
So, my .223 Ackley Improved rifle is stoopidly accurate. Here's a 10-shot group at 100 yds (0.4") from this weekend. Winds were gusting 15+ mph.
Docter/noblex mount or standard weaver included https://www.opticsplanet.com/vortex-viper-red-dot-6-moa-sight.html I ordered one I've read good things about vortex optics Lifetime warranty also.
On sale again AREX DEFENSE Delta 2 9mm 4ʺ 15rd - Black | KYGUNCO I don't think there's a better value out there My brother bought a sccy 9mm Single shot semi auto I've cleaned and oiled it No go Light primer strikes often It was 250.00 He's buying a arex after trying mine. The Taurus have been excellent About the same price as arex.
Any body shoot steel? I've been looking at buying some, I was wondering what everyone else was using. I have a few pieces that I've picked up here and there. I looked at the Throom resealable target also. I'm not convinced that's the way to go.
Don't worry the non optics cut versions are usually that price A company in Texas bought the patents and are producing American made in Texas rost martin pistols on the arex design They are 415.00 at Cabela's exactly the same just smoother melted like corner's I prefer the arex.
Birchwood Casey AR500 Steel Target Gong 4 That's all we shoot Like these birchwood casey targets Very durable The self healing don't last long for us.
I got some from Midway as well, a 12”, couple of 8”, 6” & 4” as well if I remember correctly on the sizes. I bought a hanger of a coyote as well. All are AR500. A small can of yellow & a small can of orange paint as well, to refresh the target color. The local Bomgaars had an AR500 spinner target rated for up to 7mm mag so I bought one of those as well. The healing backboard I bought was shredded pretty fast, it was a set up with clips to hold clay pigeons for targets.
Not really I sold off old pistols from my idpa days nothing particularly valuable like gen 1 m&ps .40s Gen 3 Glocks And have been buying optics ready pistols My old eyes like red dots some times I don't even have any bolt action rifles anymore I don't hunt.
I don't hunt anymore but I do keep my Stevens bolt action 22 handy. A couple woodchucks bit the dust today. I have had that rifle over 60 years. It is so old it doesn't have a serial number on it.
