Goats for vegetation management are popular here. There are several outfits that bring in two semi loads of goats and an electric fence to contain them. The only thing keeping the goats safe from predators is a livestock guard dog. They mob graze and move them daily. This scale is used by developments and public right of way but smaller scale is becoming more common on private land. My neighbor had this done last year because his land is very steep. He didn't have to do it this year because it hasn't grown back enough to warrant it. Out here in Cali there is a big push to keep fuels down for fire prevention.

Wet weather is officially behind us. I removed the tarps from the stacks today. One stack was being supported by the tarps and fell over. No rattlesnakes this year so bonus.

I finished up cutting the poplar. I got one more trailer load from it. What is in the rack all came from that one tree. My little 192t did all the cutting.

Made the remaining 26 rafters today. At least roughly 12 hours work. I'd swear each one was heavier than the last.

I'm pretty sure that somewhere during the winter I had a weekend or two without any kind of precipitation, but it has been 3-4 months since that occurred. Some weather guessers promised me at least brightening skies yesterday. Well, technically I could actually tell where the sun was around 8am for about 15 minutes, and again from 6:30 until 7:00 pm, so it was "brighter" than it has been since the sun set last Monday night. Couldn't actually see the sun, but could tell where it was in the sky, so it was an improvement.

Saw this on FB a couple of days ago - Concord would be comparable to my area. It is highlighting that Mt Washington had, and would keep getting, frozen precipitation, that is not abnormal for the big Rockpile - I think there is only 1 month out of the year they don't (although I think they got 10" of snow, so it was more than normal).

I saw that too - uggh

Maybe the sun will come out this afternoon, or tomorrow before it definitively goes back into hiding starting on Wednesday.

I'm hoping this dumpster means this house will get a facelift.

Caffeine! Dogs out and in. Not enough sleep last night but it will do. I think we may have two days with no rain. Two days with no rain.o_O I have to get mowing grass and weed-eating. Because after these two days it looks like we will be back to normal again with clouds and rain for the next 5-6 days. :picard:You hoarders enjoy the sun when you have it. Be safe, and have some fun!

IMG_20250525_132606.jpg IMG_20250525_132608.jpg Was in the middle of cutting a bunch of deck pickets for a friend's deck and my miter saw locked up solid. Had to borrow my cousins saw to finish. Found out last night that my armature bearing failed. Replacement bearing pretty cheap on Amazon. Time to clean up the motorcycle and take my wife out on a date. 20250525_185945.jpg 20250525_185949.jpg

Thanks. Should be really cool in several years after I shape that bush around it. Somebody's kids might enjoy it someday. It's some kind of cedar, evergreen, yew stump. Should last awhile.
