Hey. Guess what? I've been running the stuff for the last 24 hours. 45° and rain/ wind had me running the stove. Ash from the score of Free stuff I got this spring. The shorts from that score have burned so well in the fire pit that I knew I could run it in the stove. Yep 77° in the house. HVAC fan on to distribute the heat. It will start warming up by the weekend. Monday, hopefully we will be able to go out on the boat.
Mid-40's rainy, breezy and raw. Wood stove is burning RO to chase away the dampness. From yesterday -
Well I just broke down. 45 right now at 10.00am. Not sure how low it went last night but low enough. All the windows have been open so I just closed them and started a fire. Even the dog burrowed under the blankets and refused to come out LOL
May be the latest I've had a fire as I usually just kick the NG on. 50's all day and rainy and I had some splits in the wood box by the stove so why not. 45 overnight. I'll just open the window a crack if it gets to warm.
I see folks posting abouy being done burning wood and some have started again with this cold snap. I got to thinking and I do not remember any year that we didn't burn wood in the stove in May. Well, there were a couple years when we first got married and didn't have a wood stove, but then, we found ways to stay warm...
In general we burn at least some wood in every month except July and August, although wood has been burned in those months.
