I think a lot of people during the Covid scam realized the simpler things in life might be the way to go and have continued along that path.
It is Amazing what words and phrases they figure out, Treat, Go, and Walk are pretty standard, but often they figure out some others This Goofball knew what she meant, when Mom told Barney to go get her slippers, he knew that they came in pairs, and he often brought a Matched Pair Mom also “Trained “ the paperboy(okay, I just dated myself) to put the newspaper in the plastic bag, even when it wasn’t raining, and to toss it in the driveway, instead of putting it in the paper box, he knew exactly what Mom wanted, when she told him to get the newspaper Willow may have been the Daughter’s Dog, but she was GrandPaw’s Girl from the beginning Willow Definitely understood what it meant when GrandPaw said “ That’s Not Acceptable “ Willow, also recognized what hooking up the trailer meant, or if she heard GrandPaw starting some saws, and a door was open, she would bolt for her Beloved “Big Red Truck” Her ears were so Good, that I swear sometimes she would hear the trailer coupler dropping onto the hitch ball. She Loved going to the mountain, wood cutting with Grammy and GrandPaw She not only Loved going wood cutting, but she Loved the results as well, this was one of her FAVORITE places Unfortunately, she took her last trip to the Vet in March , and we’re still getting used to her not being around, we still expect to have to load the wood stove around her, but she just isn’t there anymore. Doug
Husky Man , great pup stories. You never really do get over losing a pet like this. You just kind of adapt, and if you can, you get another. There's still always a hole in your heart regardless.
Sorry about the thread drift Yeah, you never really “get over” some of them, “Barney” was my first dog of my own, I got him when I was still at home, and had him for almost 12 years, and I still choke up if I talk about His final trip to the vet, and that was Last Century (1997) Emily moved out on her own about 4 years ago, so Willow not being here every day isn’t new, but knowing that she won’t be coming over with Emmy, or staying for a weekend when Emmy and Cole are out of town is a bit hard. I will admit it, my eyes were “Leaking “ a little writing the other post, and a bit more just now It is hard losing them, but they add so much to our lives, that it outweighs the Heartache of when that day comes Doug
Losing two, at the same time, or close together, would be even harder. Emmy did take losing Willow Hard, Willow was her First dog of her own, and I think that the only reason she handled it as well as she did was because, she had her first child in October Without Everett to keep her busy, and he does do that, she would have had too much time to think about Willow Unfortunately, Everett is so young, that he won’t remember Willow Willow was used to being an “Only Child “ and they weren’t sure if Willow would be Jealous of Everett, so for the first couple months she stayed with us, Grammy and GrandPaw’s house was her first Home, so she felt right at home here, but she would get confused when “Mom” and Cole would leave without her, especially after the first month, she figured out that it wasn’t just a weekend visit They would come over, and have Willow get to know Everett, and eventually were comfortable taking her home again, which was a little sad for us, but we were Happy that she was adjusting. I never felt that Willow would have hurt Everett, but better to err on the side of caution. Willow did come to understand the situation, and became very attached and protective of Everett, so it is sad that he won’t remember her. Willow was only 7 when she succumbed to Cancer, she really should have had another 3-5 Good years, which made it harder losing her that early, and Everett would have had many memories of her Sometimes Life just ain’t Fair, but we make the most of it that we can Doug ps sorry for the additional drift, but sometimes I does help to talk about it, and I know that many here understand
Sad but true......were lucky to have family who still own and rent to family and friends only a bit cheaper than rental agencies.
No. I point out to our US friends that they are spelling color and labor wrong. lol depends which side of the border you are standing on.
