I’ve seen adds on the local marketplace where folks rent out their wood splitters and chainsaws.
I was wondering if there is some kind of liability insurance policy available to cover the owner in case something goes wrong and the renter is injured?

Good question! I've thought about doing custom log splitting. There are many houses that I drive by with stacks of wood waiting to be split, probably from trees cut down by a tree service.

I don’t think it’s worth it. A lot of renters won’t give a damm cause it ain’t theirs. I looked at renting before I had my own and it was $75 a day iirc. That’s not even thinking about insurance. My 2C.

Seems like a bad idea. Even if insured you could end up fighting the 'not properly maintained or working at time of incident' garbage. I suppose a waiver could be drawn but probably won't hold anything in court like they should.

Ive thought of doing a splitter and operator for hire type of thing. I don't think I'd trust the general public to use my splitter.

I imagine some type of waiver could be used/drawn up.

This would be the best rental idea
Think about it if we rent something from the rental place we use cheap fuel and the care is not there because it’s not ours

From what I've read on the internet...... waivers don't hold up in court. With in the dirt bike community it holds true time and time again. Main thing shutting down tracks and riding spots is the cost of insurance to cover someone's accident. If waivers worked....... insurance wouldn't be needed.
