So if you were going to do a staycation, where are you going? (in state, or lets say a couple/three hours from your house, if you are near a state line)
Perhaps Lancaster or maybe hit the Ithaca Farmers market if it was a Saturday. Bushkill falls would be something to see right now as well with all the recent rain.
Ok, I looked it up on the interweb. I do this often when my wife has six grandkids under the age of 5 & their parents here. I leave & go about anywhere… I find that the Gator, my dogs & nature is a nice relaxing day. A tractor cab is also very relaxing as well. I find that the bunk in the semi is very peaceful & good place to spend my nights as well. Yes, I have become a cantankerous & grouchy old man. I like me some peace & quiet.
Have not made a run out anywhere for several years now. I guess staycations are all I do now. They should be called Laborcations in reality. I use time off work to catch up chores around the property mostly. I'm due to lash out for a trip, but nothing has called strongly enough lately. You couldn't pay me to get on a commercial flight nowdays, so driving is a limitation.
I’d do a 2 wheel ride to Robbinsville NC. All the roads in the area, to and from, are stellar. The Cherohala Skyway has to be thee best motorcycle road on planet earth. The Smokey Mountains are a favorite of ours.
I did the Dragon quite by accident...on a Goldwing...I think I scraped off at least a pound of metal by the end!
Wayyyy back when there used to be a “famous” guy called Yellow Wolf. A yellow Goldwing that would video you as you rode the Dragon. He was faster than most sportbikes because he knew the road so well.
I've heard of him...kinda funny, I had a yellow GL1800 for a bit, but when I was on the Dragon I was on a GL1500...WAAY different handling than a 1800! (and not for the better...the 1800's are considered "sportbikes with bags")
With kids Great Wolf in Sandusky since your in central Oh. Maybe Kings Island or Cedar point. Without kids Hocking Hills get a B&B.
Yup, right on the north edge of it! Wife conned me into taking her to "Amish country" (Holmes county Ohio) soon after we were married, boy was that a nice day, but wasted it walking around a giant tourist trap! Good food though!
For us camping trip in state. (an hour or so away) Day trips to block island (four hours round trip, six inc. ferry rides) We haven't gone anywhere since covid. We made the mistake once of going with her daughter, BF and and friends. They made a racket staying up most of the night partying, whereas her and i like sitting quietly by the campfire...the old fogies we are! A vacation for me is getting to the destination and doing very little with no schedule.
