Are the Kohler single cylinder engines any good?

    This is at a local auction and I'm wondering if it's worth getting.
    On a Ingersoll compressor with pump problems.

    A lot of those engines that are driving compressors, power washers and such have tapered crankshafts which makes it very difficult to use on other applications.

    Depends what series/model it is...they all have their el cheapo line, and then the better stuff, lastly commercial...usually at least the 3 levels.

    Making a shaft adapter is pretty straightforward, especially if you have the female part. Or ....a drawing. This engine and again I forgot to put diesel in the title is belt driving a t-30 Ingersoll compressor.

    No experience with Kohler diesels...is it really a Kohler?

    Highly doubt it, probably a contract order. Don't know much about them but it could be a fun toy. Garden tractor, splitter, generator ect.

    The few single cylinder diesels I've been around were kinda rattle traps, but I think the Amish use some for power units...no idea on brand/model.
