His second load went this afternoon. Having trouble loading all the pics, but here is the stack when I finished. The closest cribbing is his work. DSCF0062.JPG

Regular customer called for another cord. I have maybe 3/4 cord left that I can easily access. He had bought other wood from another seller and he raves how much heat the BL puts out. Next year maybe the last I sell it in quantity. Half cord load going today. IMG_6984.JPG IMG_6985.JPG What's left of last years stack. Wood in back is not mine. Customer from post #243 above was content with a half cord. He had bought a cord from another seller to supplement his supply. Pure garbage IMO. Scraped up with a payloader as there was a LOT of punks and wood crumbs, assorted sizes and shapes. His teenage sons had commented how they like my wood as it stacks up much nicer. I applauded that comment.

Downright shameful what some guys will deliver but it only helps us to sell more at a premium price.

Him and I had a good talk. He said mine was worth the premium, but at what level compared to other wood. None of what was in that mess gave him an overnight burn. Had to restart the next morning.
My BL was 50% more than what he paid for that cord of junk. There was a lot of tulip poplar in the mix from what I saw.

Honestly I'd be embarrassed to sell wood of that poor quality for what they got. If so it would be firepit wood in the off season.

BL regular called a couple weeks back wanting a cord ahead of time. Split a half cord and delivered this afternoon. Second load will go within a week or so. Saves me from stacking it. IMG_7292.JPG IMG_7293.JPG IMG_7294.JPG

Finally was able to get the second half cord to customer from post #249. Rainy May didn't help. Had some presplit from a recent score and split some from rounds on hand to top off the load IMG_7469.JPG IMG_7468.JPG

Delivered a load of 4-5yo barkless BL to a regular today. Forgot to get pics. Since he is close he will take a half cord as needed rather than the cord at a time he has taken in the past. Contacted a couple other regulars and one no reply the other wants his within a months time. Couple others yet to hear from yet. Haven't reached out to them as they are 45 minutes away.

I have 1 customer 45min away waiting on a second load. I don’t like losing 1.5 hrs on the road. Business is steady now so I’ll probably wait on his reminder call. Someone else called me from the same town and I declined. They have a big “The firewood guy” dealer in that town, but he may have Nashville prices and green wood.

One guy is really cool to talk firewood with being a Canadien transplant and the other complains when I go up $20 for a cord when he practically begged me to sell him BL in 2021 and commented it was the best firewood he ever had and the fact it had 15%MC too plus a solid cord too. Only time I've sold him the bark on. Been barkless ever since. This will be the first year I wont be seeking barkless over the Winter as its too hard to come by now in quantity. A few small scores but wont generate it in quantity I need. Id just assume sell BL customers "normal" wood now.

Do you get a substantial fee to deliver far away?

I have a question to firewood sellers; I have bought log trucks and a cord here or there for right price.. local guy with 1 ton dump knows if he loads it and needs to get rid of it I’ll pay $100 cord cut to 16” (standard length here) unsplit; 150 split and dumped (more for oak than poplar) but roughly. I got acres out back. Drive past barn to wood processing area and dump it.

I know these prices are less than cost.. hell their less than it cost to scrounge on my land.. if you count tractors, saws, insurance, splitter and pay your self minimum wage.
Ok buZZsaw BRAD barkless BL is higher of course:whistle:;)

BUT he does tree removal and it’s our deal; I had spine surgery and got 12 cords CS and stacked 3 more in process too big for processor; 5 foot rounds of crotch wood is PITA

am I taking advantage or if it’s loaded and helps out $$ in pocket in June to pay taxes just keeps me on 3 year plan? I don’t need it don’t want to pay $300 going rate cord in fall I not burning it this year anyway
    ..

No harm no foul? Others say I would never buy wood.. fine but at 25% of cost to make it I will!
I buy silver at 25 an ounce too
Thoughts .. PS I don’t sell but is someone says I need I give it away.. it’s mine and paid for my choice
Buddy calls me says .. someone I know needs dry in January It’s my choice but that cost money cause it’s buried in snow . 300 yards away with blower

I would call it a nominal fee. I picked this customer up when I was trying to build a loyal base. Typically I’m driving 20 minutes, or less and don’t charge for delivery.

I don't think you're taking advantage. If he's doing tree removal, he needs a place to dump it, and he's making a little money to bring it to you, some places they have to pay to dump it.
