That will be the best spent $300 bucks I could imagine. I am into mine for 4 bills, and wouldn't sell it for anything. IMO, its paid for itself in the last few years I have owned it.

No, I have a Husky from TSC. Put up a wanted ad on CL, and forgot about it. A couple months later a guy contacted me, saying he wanted to get rid of his... for 400 bucks. It had a Honda clone, and a bigger pump (I believe) than stock, it was a nice clean looking splitter. Some of the best money I ever spent.

I would snatch up this one, if it was local just because it is a good deal. I used to split everything by hand, but honestly I would never go back after having a hydraulic splitter.

It's a four-hour round trip from me or I'd be very tempted. I think this is Didier, and approximately as old as I am. It's in such nice shape that it's hard to look away.

Would it need some kind of lift kit to make it normal working height or is it just the photo that makes it look like it's maybe 18" from the ground?

That is the way all splitters used to be. We had one like that in the 70's when I was a kid. That was normal working height.

Those 8 hp briggs are hard to kill.

I'd buy it and I don't even like hydro splitters. Have a Super Split myself...

Looks alot like the one my grandparents had when I was growing up. It was from Sears and the same color briggs it was a 5 hp. It was a back breaker but it was easy to roll big pieces on it.

Time to make that trip Jon... :D

I'd grab it, and I have one already. .

Even if it was to make a couple hundred on.. I'd list it at $550, then go buy the small hydro units you have been looking at

I called for the heck of it, but I'd waited too long. Denny said they'd just sold it. No surprise there.

Got one just like, had the same engine till it through a rod. Mine is dider, and it is about to get lifted once the basement is finished. The splitter has all the power I need, it just sucks splitting on your knees!

If anyone is in the York, PA area there is a nice one coming up for auction on the 11th. It has a hydraulic log lift with it.

    How about free?
Know a local (to us) guy that runs a MMA training facility. He is always looking for rounds to split. Problem is... You drop them off and pick em up. Boy howdy if he made house calls.
