    Stopped at both local dumps to throw away some old pallets and a load of brush. Nothing for the taking. New company running the one where I dumped the brush and I was told no scrounging.

    I wonder if returning mid week….with a coffee or two would change things.

    Well they are back on there normal full time hours. If I had the time I would haunt there for wood as its not out of the way nor is the North Haven one. I bring recycling/trash and lumber/job scrap there.

    I do but it was gnarly, random cut, and some had rot/ants IIRC.

    Took a drive into the town wood dump near me. They set the stuff out there for wood burners to scoff up which is very nice of them. All cleaned up, it was all junk anyway lately. Punky stuff and some cottonwood. They moved it all to the back wood dump. This could signal a wood tub chipper is coming soon. I’m hoping it doesn’t signal the end of free wood for the townies.

    Timing is everything if you want the good stuff as I've learned. Probably some luck helps too.

    Ive seen the tub grinder in action at the Wallingford location. Quite an impressive machine.

    Not a city or county dump, but it's an area where tree services dump. Guy has a couple sawmills there, they saw some lumber and build pallets for his brother's sand/mica plant.
    The dump has rows of tree waste... 20250417_092300.jpg

    We carried a load of pine saw logs to them, while there, I spotted a decent score of ash. He dug it out and loaded it Wednesday morning. 20250430_084417.jpg
    Got it sorted out Thursday morning, he put a few pieces of other wood on there too. 20250501_083508.jpg
    This will go in our personal stash

    Yep, I'm :BrianK::BrianK:...don't get ash much anymore...:whistle::whistle::emb::picard::picard:...
    Actually never got any until a few years ago when my friend that did site prep work had some in the hardwood he gave us. Had to ask on here (FHC) with a bark pic to see what it was...

    Got a small no tools scrounge today, some hard maple, red oak, and elm. Just enough to be worthy of posting. IMG_8061.jpeg IMG_8061.jpeg IMG_8062.jpeg IMG_8063.jpeg IMG_8065.jpeg

    My stop this morning was a bit rushed. I did look quick where the wood and brush is dumped but 3-4 trucks with trailers backed in there. Didn't see anything good.

    On the way home there was tree service taking down a big oak. I stopped and they said it was for anyone to take but it was red oak and I wouldn't have time til next week to get it.
