Trees both are down. Nice looking wood, IMO The 2nd tree had flying ants in it. I scattered Spectracide ant granules around the area. They dropped it in one cut, with a rope pulling it back against the lean it had. I just had to start cutting on it with my 350. It was a good morning. Full sun now. So I'm done.
Hard to resist cutting with a big log in your yard. Gonna end up with some sweet firewood. From the looks of it some will be ready for the upcoming season if you opt to go that route. Did any of the tree guys ask about your wood hoard?
They didn't. There were several walk throughs. One guy was waiting for a saw to be brought to him. I did mention that I hoped there was at least 2 cords to fill the empty racks. He said there might be. I'm sure they see lots of stuff in their work.
We just had a line of thunderstorms roll through with heavy rain. So, I'll pass on doing any cutting today. I will however, relocate what I can to get it off the lawn.
Yep, you got some nice farwood. Did they chip small limbs too? Looks like the did a great job cleaning up, I saw the guy raking.
They saved everything down to the thickness of your wrist. everything else was chipped. There were a few limbs they could have put aside, but I said nothing as they were in a groove cleaning up. After raking, a guy came around with a backpack blower to cleanup the driveway where the chipper was, as well as around the drop zones. Lots of chipper dust from the dead/dry limbs. I was pleased with their efforts. I gave the guy extra cash to cover lunch for the four of them.
Don't blame you there...working with wet logs not fun. Ill give you a week to get it CSS. Too bad i wasnt closer as id give you a hand.
I got the area pretty well picked up. Truckaa, showed up and assisted with the relocation. We stood a number of limbs near the top of the driveway. Gravity was put to use to roll rounds and limbs. They were grouped/piled wherever it made sense to get off the grass. The tree service piled logs which the trunk fell on. We removed anything that was loose. Lots of air under the trunk will help with the cutting. Using a crowbar, I stripped off whatever bark that was loose. That left a layer of grit. Rain will rinse it off, or I'll scrape off whatever dries, where I'll cut Sure does open up the area.
Way to go Truckaa! Nice when its off the ground. Makes bucking so much easier. Yeah that schmutz is nasty stuff when wet. Encounter it very often on BL.
Thanks, but no worries. I'm in no rush to get it all processed. It'll be a bit by bit. I still need to figure how to process the smaller tree that was felled on a rock wall. I need to cut through a patch of briars to gain access to the middle of it. Depending on weight, I'll cut and toss the rounds put of the woods.
Nice wood, got it just in time,,,,most likely. It’s odd how some ashes rot real fast and others hold up fairly well. Sometimes even the same tree will have good sections then punky. If it were me I’d be trying to pull that tree out of that stone wall in one piece somehow. I only have one good ankle, dancing over stones is not on my bingo card
We'll see. No power equipment. No winch achievable. A couple come-alongs are it. I'll see which side of the log has better access. It's 12in diameter. 4ft lengths shouldn't be too bad to flip end over end.
Hmnn,,,,,, have one of the wife’s friends take her to the movies. When she’s gone use her car to pull it out. They say marriage is a partnership right?
Hmm... you actually might be on to something. I do have 150ft of bull rope. A 90⁰ change in direction gets the rope to the driveway. Need to think about a pully.
