My wife and I have talked and dreamed about going to Africa to hunt for a long time. I always thought it was a dream that I would be able to fulfill when I was much older. But last year we went to a benefit auction and they sold a trip to hunt Africa and no one bid on it. My wife said she was going to buy it and I thought she was crazy at first but we got it for a big discounted price. So we planned out the trip and here we are. Today we arrived in camp at 2pm and after a meet and greet and checking our bows we headed out. This place is amazing, So far at the blind we have seen cape buffalo, kudu, nyala, blue wildebeest right at the blind. And driving in we saw zebra and impala. The cape buffalo were intense, those things are massive and we had them at less than 10 yards from our blind.

We just went out and a kudu was at the top of my list. The luck of the draw put 3 shooter size kudu in front of us and after a few attempts we got one that stood still long enough with spooking for a shot. This Kudu was so much fun and they are a big animal. It was so much fun havinf my wife in the blind as well for the hunt, I was able to make a great shot and he went down within sight of the blind although initially I thought it was a bit low.

My wife is up next and she has high hopes of getting a zebra, we have seen many zebra just driving around so looks like we should have a good chance at getting one. Ill post more pictures in this thread as we go throughout the week. First picture is the hut we are staying in and the view then the kudu I shot.

Awesome pics! What other critters are you looking to get? Any of the dangerous game?

I know they all have a cost associated with them. You gonna have mounts done? That kudu would look good up on the wall

Wonder how many arrows an elephant would take before he decided to stomp the funny looking biped under him

My wife is going after a zebra and both of us are going to go for an impala and warthog. Warthogs are a little hard to come by here right now so we may look for something else instead.

I've heard the monkeys can be annoying over there. I've read some funny stories about monkeys stealing stuff from camps

The Kudu is getting mounted for sure. If she gets a zebra she wants to make a rug out of it. I'm not sure about the rest, maybe a few skull mounts, maybe more shoulder mounts. We will find out when we get done.

You can get them mounted in Africa or ship the hides back to the stated for mounting. I am going to have them shipped back here and have them mounted at home. Cost is extra either way.

Now you need vaulted ceilings for the mount (if they are not high already). Good Luck to Wifey :)
