Must have brought out 20+ loads today. I need to upgrade soon from the smallish craftsman wagon I use, so I can spend more time stacking than hauling in and out. Dawn did a lot of stacking thankfully, just under 1.5 cords. There is another cord to come out, less than I thought, so I'll need to buck and split some more to finish this 3 cord rack.
Love the look of a freshly stacked rack of wood I think harbor freight sells little 4' x 4' trailers, or something like that. With some stake sides that may work better for you
Nothing better than seeing nicely stacked wood, and now that the leaves are turning it's looking even better! It's 80° today but it has a fall like look that's for sure.... Not sure how it's looking in PA but most of my trees in the neighborhood are turning.
Just noticed trees turning for the first time today. Still a little hot and humid though. We won't see real cold temps for a couple months. Real cold for georgia anyways
That is a good idea. I would stack higher, but that little craftsman's axle in the real issue. I've never really allowed the trails to get any wider, mostly due to trees and boulders. Even bringing back the splitter is slow go.
Thanks! We hit 80°F today and it wasn't bad in the shade of the woods. The forest is mostly oaks, maples, hickories, poplar, sassafrass, and ash. There is some turning if the leaves, the maples I believe. Won't be long now.
It was a beautiful day, but I am ready for cooler temps. When one goes out with some coffee and carhart jacket on, that is the best. It's coming! Yea, but from the porch, the stacks block the view of the wildlife. The firepit area is spectacular though!
The fire pit is great. Always plenty of junk wood to burn down there! Thanks! I love me some oak. What kind of lows do you typically get overnight down there? I'll bet last year set some records!
Sweet WS. Wood stacks look good. On the trailer, not sure what you are looking for but I see in the Northern catalog they have the trailer like ours for $300. Nice part about it is the really wide tires make going through mud easy. Also it is built low but will still tilt if that is needed.
Here's some of harbor freight trailers I was thinking about. I don't know how tight your trails are so maybe 4' is too wide http://m.harborfreight.com/870-lb-c...ailer-with-8-inch-wheels-and-tires-42708.html http://m.harborfreight.com/1090-lb-...-12-inch-four-lug-wheels-and-tires-90153.html This little cart claims 600 lb capacity http://m.harborfreight.com/10-cubic-ft-heavy-duty-trailer-cart-38897.html
Yes, I've seen that one! It's a very nice model, and yea, whatever I eventually get will certainly have some beefy tires. I could be wrong, and I'm sure it's not really needed, but didn't that model you have also have the dual axle option?
Yes, it has that option but it would have to be some mighty tough ground before it would be needed. Perhaps up in some of Bogydave's country in some real muskeg ground but I doubt anyone in the lower 48 would ever need the double.
Thx, that last one is identical to the one I have. TSC has a nice tub style beefy one I may purchase at some point. I think The Woodlands and Lukem have it.
Yep last year was cold. Last year we got down into the teens. Usually the 20s is as low as we go. Which is pretty dang cold to me
Very impressive stacks WS! You got a lot done today. It's nice having a helper to help stack too.... I don't always have one, but appreciate it when I do...
