Stopped at a local nursery today looking for some trees/shrubs. Im cheap and always look for sale or clearance stuff this time of year. These folks had a clearance section that said$200 whatever I could fit in the bed but I had to load it. I asked mrs piney how strong she was feeling and she said "let's load er up".

    Trees
2 12ft sunset maples (beautiful shape and healthy)
2 12ft plums (decent shape but need some dead stuff trimmed back)
    1 8ft cypress
    1 4ft Japanese maple

    Shrubs
    5 photenias
    3 rose bushes
    3 4ft cypress

We probably could have fit more but after lifting those 12 footers we were beat.

I have a beaufiful Japanese Maple on the corner of my house the kids gave me for Father's Day many years ago. I love the contrast of the red with the house. Brings back warm memories of the kids running around it, laughing and playing.
I hope your new trees provide your with much more than fruit and shade.

What i meant to say was i don't really think one of them would fit in too well in my yard (don't have any small ornamental trees). Unless the mrs finds a spot for it haha. I may give it too my mom. After reading your post i remembered that she's mentioned in the past that she likes them

It would if I did it right. That is about a third of what we have around here. This year, it was mostly on its own. I've been unable to attend to it because of this knee issue following my fall in Feb. I have a lot of quilt about it, but it is what it is.
Once had the home assess for value. I had thought the huge gardens would add value. Not! was told that they were labor intensive and other home owners would not want the work or expense of them.

Our niece just bought a house in a community down island. She thought the gardens were lovely when they first looked at the place but then realized how much work they needed when they moved it. She cut it all down figuring that most wouldn't survive but it all came up again. I was reading somewhere else where large gardens really put potential house buyers off the sale. We forget that years ago, there was always someone home - usually the wife - to tend and keep up the gardens. With both partners having to work to pay for the place, food, 2 cars and other things, there isn't the time for that kind of love and attention for a garden.

Trees and shrubs are not cheap. We need to put some Korean Boxwoods in the front of our house and they're about $65 for the small ones. They're not the most colorful or exciting but they don't look too bad and they're very low maintenance.

It's in williamstown. Kind of a hike for you. Im tempted to go get another load. They had a bunch more 8-10ft cypress, white pines, white oaks, weeping cherries, and some other shrubs. Now keep in mind some of the stuff needs a little tlc to get em looking healthy again but some of it is perfectly fine.
