The power company recently did some roadside clearing near my house and left the logs to rot. Some cherry, black birch and a lot of red/sugar maple. There was a safe spot to park off the road, flip flop and load so I went for it. Not a spot I’d want to cut a lot at, with everything laying on a steep bank and a mass of bittersweet and grape vines smothering the entire area. It was about 80’ to move the logs to the truck too:picard: But…. Cherry is a specialty firewood for me and the scrounging season is almost done, so I did what I had to to retrieve them.

On the way out I spotted this large-ish crotch of paper birch, so that was a bonus too.

    I thought it never ended???

Its not easy to drive by knowing all that wood is there! I know the feeling all too well. Nice to get woods you don't score often either.
