The general store in the town I lived in allowed people to run a tab. It made it easier to have your kids run to the store to pick up an item without having the kids have cash with them.
Dad and Mom had a small convenience store. A few people (always the same ones) asked for credit often. But those same few people would always be at the local bar for hours every day. Dad pointed out their inability to pay for bread, milk, eggs but always had money to push across the bar for drinks. I don't know if he ever got paid for what was owed.....but he made a hand printed sign and taped it to the cash register. This is what it read.
lol, this same store puts bounced checks on display for everybody to see! Right next to the list of people that are no longer allowed credit.
My Parents ran a small store/lottery stand/film developing place in the Towne Mall in New Castle PA....He ran tabs for lottery tickets. Some of the best customers, would pay their tabs for years, but almost every one of them would screw him on the last tab and never come back.
Thank you all for your dedication and hard work. The Mercury 7 astronauts at Ellington Air Force Base in Houston Texas, 1963. They are (L to R): Gordon Cooper, Wally Schirra (partially obscured), Alan Shepard, Gus Grissom, John Glenn, Deke Slayton, and Scott Carpenter. Amazing individuals, to be sure. Sadly, Grissom died with astronauts Ed White and Roger B. Chaffee on January 27, 1967, during a pre-launch test for the Apollo 1 mission at Cape Kennedy, Florida.
I'm in the habit of checking the local arrests page from time to time (I'm weird like that). This is without a doubt the strangest name I've seen anywhere, ever. Even stranger to see it on the arrests page to begin with.
Yesterday when I was picking my kid up from school it was sunny but under 20*f. There was a man wearing gym shorts which isn’t all that uncommon but he also had thick winter gloves on. A combo I had never seen before.
Sandals are apparently ok with shorts in cold weather as long as you wear calf high wool logger's socks with a horizontal red stripe at the top with them! We see it all the time here in the Great North West. But then we are a forward thinking fashion center to the world!
