It is a beautiful place and parts of it really reminded us of our coastline.

The world is sometimes more alike than we realize. I see parts of this island that quite remind me of England, Scotland, Ireland, different parts of the USA, and a few other parts of the world. Not that I've had the chance to see those in person yet, but seen plenty of pictures and want to go someday.

There's one area not so far from me, that is an uncanny half and half mixture of two other distinctly different areas, all in opposite directions and distant from each other. Really struck me the first time I seen it. If landscapes could breed with perfectly divided characteristics passed on, I tell you. Couldn't have imagined it if I tried.

Did a little gathering today, trying to save my good stuff, since it looks like the weather might be getting better from here out. I've been eyeing these small standing dead trees down in a hole at the front of my property. It fills with water from time to time for several weeks so i thought they were tulip poplar but after splitting them and seeing bug track marks under the bark, I'm now thinking it's ash. Several more down there for the gitting if need be. Also found a small dead cherry. Will put the box fan on it all for a few days. Dry some of the surface moisture. Inside was good and dry.

First load at the cut sight. Straight ahead is the way out and back to the trailer.

First load back at the trailer.

First load split and on the trailer.

Second load basically filled the trailer and should last me through the next week or 2, depending on temps. Gonna leave it here in the sun till later. Then in the garage she goes and I'll put the fan on it.

Caffeine! It’s -6, and after I get moving, it will be time to bring some more firewood in. Have enough in the basement to get through the day and overnight, but it’s time to restock enough to get through the next week. Will burn more Pine during the day today and tomorrow on RDOs. Stay warm firewood hoarders, and enjoy the day.

Started on the next big project this morning - concrete floor for the barn. When I had it built a few years ago concrete wasn't in the budget but now it's time.

Going to be 2 pours for the inside and eventually a 3rd for the apron in front of the doors. I got the first site cleared out and shot with the laser this morning...it was better than I thought....only about 1" - 1.5" low in most places. Better than high.

Menard's run this evening for supplies.

Did two closets like this. There's a line between vintage and outdated, and those tiles crossed it with flying colors. Of course, I filled mine with materials for future projects as soon as it was done.

Interesting old house for sale in Eastport. This house was originally built on nearby Flat Island, and floated to Eastport in the 1950s when the community was Resettled. It has some functional updates, but still retains a lot of old school character.

The storm we are having right now is miserable. Winds have increased, just about everything is closed, cancelled, postponed.

I ran the plow up to the mailbox just to open the driveway and that danged snow is so wet and heavy that the plow just floats up onto the snow at a depth of about 6" or so. Second trip across it knocked it down to 4-5 inches; I'll just let it be until the storm is over now.

Makes it very hard to shovel that white concrete!

It's nasty outside. Windy and some combination of snow and rain coming down.

Did some digging on the barn's trench drain this evening. Isn't much fun digging through compacted white rock....only about 15' more to go. The last 15' is just for the drain pipe so it can be a lot narrower and more shallow.

I heard from my daughter-in-law who live just outside of New Ulm, MN. They got 1 inch of snow and have a 3 and a half foot snow drift in their back yard.

I like that trailer for quad work. Low to the ground and holds plenty. Nice setup!

I like the saw marks on the floors of the bathroom. The whole house is simple but well made.

White ground again but no need to shove it around. The Lord gave it and the Lord will melt it.

I think I just sold the old tractor. FBM is such a cesspool anymore so I'm not counting the cash just yet. Had a guy that was coming to get it yesterday morning and cancelled on me.
