Only problem I see is it looks solid enough that maybe it shouldn't be a firewood truck! :hair:
I bet you could easy flip that to someone that'll fix er up, then have even more money for something really nice... like maybe pushbutton unloading...? :D

I'm not even a Chevy guy and I was thinking the same thing. These things get insane money.

Nice score. Rear springs on those do need to be upgraded if you are planning on hauling a lot. They squat out pretty quickly.

To follow up from above, here is what I did. I have a one ton. (56 inch eye to eye on spring size). I added 2 of the larger leafs to the pack but it still squated quite a bit. I ended up sourcing another 1 ton rear spring pack with helpers. I mounted the helper brackets and shortened several springs to build the pack size. It squats about 3 inches now with 1 1/2 cords.

The top leaf on a 3/4 or 1 ton is the same if 56 inch. The helpers help spread the load and strain off the eyes. My experience is without the helpers, you will overextend to main top leaf. Frames weak poit is the fromt spring perch where the rivets are. Broke a 3/4 ton frame there once but did repair with a stitch welded fish plate and ran for years with no other issues. 1 ton rear frame section is slightly bigger/stronger. We ran over 3 tons of weight on the trucks.

1980 had both versions. A Custom Deluxe had round headlights while the higher trim packages had the new rectangular. I'm guessing it was to use up inventory.

The current grill he has would be 1978 down but it could have been changed out. Only reason I found out about rounds on 1980 is because that is what Mine is and they showed it in the catalogs.

Nice. Perfect wood truck IMO. Just be sure to take care of the tailgate! :D
