Worked 2 hrs last night bucking rounds for Blue Samson... Took less than 2 tanks of gas with the XS4910 to buck... Made a nice dent in the pile That round lying on it's side above had a surprise in it... Glad I saw them and didn't saw them with that new chain...that would have been ugly...
Those @#@$@#%@ are worse than nails! Took a tooth clean off one of my chains. Previous owner of the property seemed to love those screws.
Our son stopped by as we were getting started splitting, he helped throw splits and rolled rounds to the lift. We got a big pile done quick... He went home and we stacked that pile...finished first row and about half the second row Then Miz Carol and I split another pile Might have 15 rounds left from what we cut Monday in post #61
Miz Carol had a ladies meeting at church Wednesday evening, so I was unsupervised...decided to play with the saws...XS2511T, XS4910 and XS362... Finished bucking this pile of logs... Got this many rounds from it So with the 15 leftover rounds, we have 74 ready for processing After she got home, we stacked the pile.of splits from Tuesday night, got the 2nd row done...
Got a late start Thursday night, so only got 23 rounds split... Miz Carol playing with her phone...caught me actually doing something...I like this size rounds, 16 splits per round Added a few more pieces to 2nd row, good start on 3rd row... 51 rounds left in this group
Saturday was a good day... Split a big pile while Miz Carol was cleaning our church... She helped me stack it later that day...got 3rd row finished and 4th row set... Had to go single wedge one a few of the rounds...ones like this will be deer camp farwood... Got a second pile split that evening, which finished the rounds. Stacked it that night, got 4th row about half way done, I'll get a picture later. So 74 rounds made 1 1/2 stacks... More to come soon...
We got a chance late this evening to buck more rounds for Blue Samson. Only got 31 rounds cut, ran out of room. These big ones will make you glad for the log lift..
T.Jeff Veal, great work all around! Impressive shed! What area of Georgia are you? I've lived in Americus, Columbus & Hinesville.
We live near Sandersville, middle part of GA, along the Fall Line that runs from Columbus to Augusta. Where in N ALA do you live?
After starting a tree cutting job yesterday, came in last night to sharpen a couple chains, and decided to split a few rounds...this is the 4th row... This pile is from 14 rounds... Got 14 bucked rounds left... The 3 closest to splitter in post #71, hollow rounds, went in deer camp wood pile, carpenter ants and a few termites...
Middle GA is nice - spent time in Metter. I'm Huntsville-Madison metro, 10 miles from TN line. So much growth - traffic is a nightmare.
That’s a whole lotta white oak in one spot. You trying to flip the planet over or sumptin? Neighborhood must smell like you’re having a Jack Daniels convention Nicely done, how many cords you think you have laid up now?
When that shed is full, will be 5 cords there, 4.5 in shed beside it. 9.5 cords of white oak and 4.5 cords of hickory so far this '24-25 farwood season
We had some strong winds Thursday, so we left the pines alone and stayed home to work on farwood. Had 14 rounds this size left to process... The log lift saved the day...and my back... The big chunk got away from me when I was sliding it back to be resplit Had a casualty...poor corner of the toolbox...reminds me of buZZsaw BRAD tailgate... Split 7 rounds, had to stop and stack... Then finished the last 7 rounds... That completed the 5th row and set up the 6th row... Bucked the rest of the logs we had stacked by the splitter this morning... Close to the splitter is fresh green rounds to go in shed. The barkless rounds at the back have spalted, so going to put them in tote to dry... Got a few rounds split and stacked Friday morning... Got some big knotty pieces coming up, will get the best for the shed, then knots will go in deer camp pile
