Back in the pile and buckets of BTU

    Have not been into the pile in a bit due to winter storms and tons of cleanup to be done. Got back in yesterday and today, and felt good to get back at er.

    Did you spot the bad wood? Hate running into that in the pile!

    Those little electric splitters are handy. Used mine a bit today. Mostly for sizing pre split wood for bundles although I did split a face cord of sugar maple with it last year.

    Looks like it's almost a lifetime supply of BTU's for most hoarders.

    Heck, who am I kidding? Hoard on. Started the old splitter with new motor but looks like it needs a bunch of TLC before really putting it to work.

    I’ve cut standing white birch that ended up looking like that in the middle. The very top was starting to die, but plenty of leaves still. Salvaged some of the trunk, but a lot went into a brush pile.
