    What is antique?

Over the past month or so I've seen pictures, usually old farm pictures, showing what they call antiques. For example, I just saw a picture of an old combine (they state it is antique) still in working order.

This to me is amazing to me. I was a teen-ager before I ever saw or even heard of a self-propelled combine! OMG! What does this say for me?

You're an antique? :D Or maybe vintage is better suited?

In PA, your vehicle has to be 25 years old to be eligible for antique plates.

generally, a thing has to be 100 years old to be considered an 'antique'
With cars there's vintage and classic cares - all assigned ages of qualification.

My local Toyota dealership has low mileage like new 1989 truck on display. The last time I was there for service I told a salesman that I bought an identical truck in January 1989. First time I ever felt a fossil!!

And it sounds like this old body might be out shoving around some snow soon.

Well, according to the "25 year rule" I've got clothing that can be listed as antiques!

Yes, I still wear it. Jackets, socks, underwear, shirts, pants, hats, gloves, boots.......you know-clothing!

Seems to me that we are too happy to discard the things that served us very well. I don't know what to call this phenomena. I've stated before that I prefer the term Traditional over old Fashioned which seems derogatory.

It definitely creeps up on you. Suddenly, you like the music in the grocery store, music you rocked out to in college is now classic rock. And that car with classic plates can’t possibly be 20-25 years old…..
