LOL Jeremy, my wife and I have twins at 10 now and 1 more at 7. Know what you mean. And my wife is the greatest with the kids. And she teaches first grade! She is a little :loco:

I'm stuck at work this morning, but took the afternoon/evening off to work around the house or camp. The weather has been beautiful and looks like more of the same for the next 5-6 days! upload_2014-9-27_10-26-20.jpeg

Went in to work to look at a UPS that had fritzed. It is a 208 Volt, 30 Amp, 5000kVA so it is a rather big one. I knew it had bad batteries in it and we had ordered some that came yesterday when I wasn't at work. It was off when I got there, which isn't normal as they should continue to run on street power even with bad batteries. So I replaced the batteries, and turned it on. It said 'Bypass Fault, output power off'. I turned it off and then back on, and it did the same. So I did the reset procedure to get it to clear the faults, which is off/on with no power connected, hold on till it beeps then plug it back in and turn it back on.

Did that and when I turned it back on with street power its insides BLEW UP. BOOM, crack, sparks and smoke like it was July 4th.

I've never had one of them do that on me before.

That being enough excitement for my afternoon I turned off a bunch of non critical test computers in that rack so we didn't overload the redundant power and left it till Monday.

Now that would be a tall cold draft of course. You see, the way I look at it is you have to live it up sometimes, and while you still can. You never know what is going to happen and you can't drink a tall cold draft. Some day I might be out being a tourist, and I walk out onto a street I am unfamiliar with. At the same time a FHC member, is driving down the street and sees a beautiful pile of OAK and Black Locust just being stacked with a FREE FIREWOOD sign on it. His eyes never leave, I mean become temporarily distracted by, the pile and he drives right into me while I'm walking to the pub across the street with a Yuengling sign that I am distracted by. Doctors fix me up but say I can no longer drink alcohol of any kind. Something to do with damage to kidneys and liver. See, ya never know. You have to live it up sometimes.

I can't drink booze anymore, it just tears up my stomach. Just started happening a few years ago. I don't miss it. I had 2 beers a month ago and really paid for it.

Same here Jack. Only time I really miss an ice cold beer is when I have a fire in the pit. We used to get a fire going almost every night at the farm, in all 4 seasons. Drank a few beers then too.

Holy moly. What was the incoming voltage? We had a cust. sub on the fritz today bypassed the internal fuses and operated the feeder three times as they finally blew. Auto changeover relays on the fritz so both incoming feeders opened.:hair: Lease it was on the cust. side.

Rated for 208V single phase, NEMA L6-30. I usually see a little below that on the incoming sides.
I'm not sure what caused it to blow but its magic smoke leaked out in a catastrophic manner.

I was poking around in one of the out buildings at the shop and you guys would crap I think. Building maybe 30x40 filled floor to ceiling with chainsaws and parts. Mostly older stuff, 60s-90s. Mac, Poulan, Johnsered, Echo, Husqvarna, little bit of Stihl as well. Other brands long forgotten.

For sale, but I have zero time to pick through. I'd literally need to use a shovel. One wall and floor area was just handles, I'd guess 5-6 pickup truck loads.

Have some bow saws, reciprocating saw (before a chain was popular), two man electric chainsaws. Found a saw with an alternator instead of a bar. Used for starting airplanes.

Heading home from work shortly. I have two friends coming over at 10 to help me move the Ideal Steel into place on the hearth. Spent yesterday afternoon building a ramp from the pickup bed to the front door and stripping the stove down as much as possible to shed some weight. Looking forward to placing this 700 pound behemoth on the hearth, peace of mind comes next :)

Ive had a couple of the homeowner APC units eat themselves because something goes wrong in the charging circuitry, and they either dont detect that the lead battery is getting worn or the float voltage is too high and they overcharge until it cooks and busts the case (sealed agm's).

Doesnt sound anything like your issue, however....
