I finally ran a saw this afternoon.
I was happy to see the Maple was in good shape.
This Echo was a great find for $175.

Nice find on the saw and the maple. How many saws in your arsenal now?

Mingo marker. Roll it along a log and it paints a mark at a predetermined length so rounds are uniform.
Rather popular among some FHCers. I use a folding ruler and chalk.

Oh nice, I could use one. I have a magnetic stick for the bar, it drives me nuts lol.

I have a Mingo marker and I found it only works well if you are cutting in the open and on fairly flat ground. Trying to mark a log in the woods where you are stepping over all kinds of brush and navigating being on a hillside is difficult

I use a stick that I find in the woods and break it to length :loco:

That looks like fun! I like Echos, they sure are well made.

I have for years used a spencer tape and horseshoe nail. I see spencer offers their own nail however at $100 for a bag of 25 not sure if I'll ever have one!

Had to look up what you were talking about and came across these. Not sure if these were what you thought were about $4 each.

The last two saws I’ve purchased are the Echo which was brand new and a slightly used Husqvarna 460.
Last count I had around 50 saws.

Those echo timberwolves are great saws. Every time I run mine (not often enough), I'm impressed by the quality. Glad you got to give it some work.

The younger generation would get confused at how to use a folding ruler
