Was 15F when I went to bed, same at 1:30 AM when I got up to check fire, at 5:30 when up to add wood, it was 29F! Went back down to 25 at 7AM.
Strange weather but I'll take mid 20's instead of below 0 temps we have had all week.

Again believ me or not, it doesn't matter
My house has been consistently at least 5f warmer with the blocks.
If it did nothing or made it worse I would not have them.
I did this as an experiment and am pleased with the results, I had most materials on hand so it cost me very little
I may make a bigger better version next year

Todd Thats a chilly morning! Were -18c/0f under clear skies. A full load of larch with a piece of apple for the reload this morning. Happy Friday! Hey question for the group... my lovely wife wants to paint the basement this weekend which includes the walls behind the wood stove. Ive been wondering how heat affects curing wall paint? I would have to let the stove go cold for a bit to safely work around it. Im also thinking those two wall might wait for a milder stretch. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks.

The heat will speed drying, but I would wait for warmer temps to shut the stove down if you can.

It was -4° this am. Dogs were like, nope. Not going out.

It was 71° inside at 6 am when I saw the -4.

Ash and Honey locust in the stove. Been emptying the ashes a lot more than usual.

It's supposed to get the mid 30's tomorrow. It's 15° now.

Load of ash in the Fireview. Temps are back up. It felt like a heatwave outside today. Stove is keeping up just fine. IMG_3721.jpeg

Those look awesome lol. I might look into some heated socks but don't want to get shocked with all the slop I trudge through.

Heated socks are great for outdoors I have a couple pair , just make sure you don't get them too small, If they are tight they are uncomfortable , you're not gonna get shocked they don't have enough power to shock a aunt, but they will heat your tootsies up good, The heated slippers are just way more comfortable for indoors

If If you do some research you might find some that you can throw on the washing machine but I don't know
