    Nice tractor Dave! Did you happen to get it from the Kubota dealer in Walpole, NH? My wife and I sometimes head to that area to run some errands. I’ve gone to that particular dealer just to look at all the cool stuff they have out front.

    No, Plainfield/Townline equipment. When I had my check book handy, :whistle: and decided on which tractor I wanted, Walpole didn’t have the machine in stock, but they could get it and I happen to be up there. Plainfield had everything in and delivered it for free, I couldn’t complain. I drove up there and was in and out in about an hour doing the financing crap then wrote them the downpayment check. :emptywallet: Was delivered the next morning. :tears: I’m not sure how popular this machine is, but they said they had sold 4 since the new year and that one was a recent delivery to them but wasn’t slated for anyone.

    I’ve dealt with Townline for 24 years and have, for the most part, good things to say. Dealing with the sons isn’t quite the same as with their dad, but things change. I buy a few things from Walpole, but not much. I will note that when Deere pulled the rug out from under their local dealership John Deere Pulls Dealership from New Hampshire Company After 84 Years that Pinnacleview stepped up and hired a bunch of them.

    That is my first dealing with any of them. I was treated well, no complaints. The machine was even washed and prepped, (as it should be) and I had a walk through. I did lots of homework and looked at what my needs would be. That machine seemed to fit the bill. I figured I’d add the 3rd function system right off the bat, I saw it as; “pay me now or pay me later” kinda thing. I knew I’d need various attachments. My next purchase for it will be a grapple. I’m banging my thoughts about that also. I have a Mahindra dealer 4 miles from my property, Mahindra® Tractors For Sale | Winchester, NH | Tractor Dealer. I just didn’t like what I was reading for the money. A friend up there said they are not bad machines, he has one but with much research I kept going back to the Kubota. I also knew Kubota was not only reputable, but parts were readily available if needed. Case and New Holland were on my list as well! :)

    Another important piece of equipment you will need is something for ballast. That can be a ballast box or heavy attachment for when you are lifting logs with a grapple. It doesn’t take much to lift the rear off the ground. The ballast will also take some of the load bearing off the front axle.

    It’s only about 400lbs but I have a box scraper that was headed for the scrap pile I got for free and I cleaned it up for use again, it’s not in bad shape at all, just rusty. I added some braces and started wire brushing/painting. :) It’ll help a little…

    That's what I use for ballast . I think mine weights 550. I have some old pieces of 1.5"x12"x18" boiler plate that I'm going to try to figure out how to add (and still be able to remove) that would add another 200lbs +/-.

    It appears you could hang suitcase weights off the sides of that, but they are spendy. It’s a learning experience, but I’d recommend getting closer to 1k lbs of weight to offset the big logs. It will save you’re tc some unwanted exercise.

    If you look at the pic, with the shed and bicycles, there is a pile of mild steel plate, I have some 1-1/4” under there hiding. I’ll bet that piece I have is 36” x 12”. It weighs a couple pounds! :p:rofl: :lol: I can through a couple “tack welds” on it, across the back of the scraper. I’d guess that plate weighs a good 300+ lbs. o_O
