True story! I'll post a pic later since it was dark when I got home and when I left this morning. There's a large pile of chips to go with the logs so plenty for me to work on.

Here's the pile. Hopefully there is a little clear weather tomorrow so I can get out to start bucking and clearing the area.[IMG]

Warmer today and tomorrow in the 30s. Then the bottom falls out again. It is supposed to climb back up again next weekend. Between snow and cold I haven't gotten much production done for a couple weeks.

Has the weather been on your side? It sounds like you've kept yourself busy.

This load is an absolute gem. Goldilocks wood, if you will. The one before that...not so much. It was a large willow that was pretty punky. Maybe 8' if usable logs. The rest is destined for the burn pit.[IMG][IMG]

Have you ever wondered what $50 worth of firewood looks like? In my world, this is it.

A customer responded to one of my marketplace ads today asking if I could deliver firewood rather than them picking it up. They had seen a post for smoking wood and I assumed that wasn't really what they wanted. I explained that I have mixed hardwoods, smoking wood, kindling and fire starters. I asked what they would be interested in. They said they would like mixed hardwoods for their fireplace and asked if I could deliver $50 worth of wood.

I don't have a standard $50 amount in my firewood stand so I had to decide what to do next. Should I tell them I didn't have that option and try to sell them another amount? Should I simply say I can't do that? I actually have the perfect solution.

After someone stole a significant amount of wood from my firewood stand, I decided that I would need to be able to offer delivery for the same quantities that I typically would sell in the stand. So I made a rack that I can load in the back of my truck using a skid steer. It is set up with a total of four bins each 2 ft wide. I typically would sell 2 ft or 4 ft high amounts in the stand. So what I decided to do was load one 4 ft stack that I typically would sell for $40 and then half of a 2 ft stack. That comes out to exactly $50.

I will deliver this in the morning and I am taking kindling bundles, smaller candling bags and fire starters as additional options.[IMG][IMG]

Cold and windy last week and just seasonably cold now. Frozen ground has been nice. Old age is catching up with me though as my endurance isn't there. Some rain tomorrow and snow later Sunday and then the bottom falls out temp wise. I have wood to S/S next week as the shed is ready enough and have a cord+ of bundle wood to split.

Last weekend I had a lady drive an hour to buy 125+ pcs of firewood and a big bag of kindling for $99. I pulled the price out of the air as I had problem PCs that weren't good enough for bundles. (mostly frass from borers) I do that every now and then. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Sounds about the same here. I need to CSS tomorrow because I probably won't be out again for a few days.

Sounds like a good plan. Nothing goes to waste here either. Just need to package and price the wood to get it sold.

The $50 load is in the truck and off to which new home. It was about a 7-minute drive. Interestingly enough Google maps showed me the location, had me parking on the road and walking across the lake to get to the house. Turns out the place is on an island and has a long driveway off of another road.[IMG]

After I got home from the delivery I got to work on the latest maple logs board from the tree service. I bucked up a little more than 1/4 cord and stacked it for splitting sometime this week.[IMG][IMG]

Glad to hear everything is working out and you are staying busy selling wood
You have cameras up watching your firewood stand have you seen any suspicious people
Don’t have wood I. The stand or are most of those sales during summer when people are doing bonfires

I haven't seen anything unusual since I started putting wood out again after setting up the cameras. I did see a shady character on foot leaning against one of my racks (more than 60' off the road) before I put the wood back out but that's it.

One thing I really like is getting the camera notifications so I can see when someone is at the stand and sometimes I can tell what they are buying. If I'm home I can go collect the cash and refill the stand if I'm so inclined.

The stand is stocked a little lighter in the winter. I keep all the loose stacks available but bundles and smoking wood don't sell as well.

At least they are on notice. As long as they get the message they can follow along as much as they want. :D
